I've only done the front as this was the worst corrosion- the rear has a dent in the rim so needs straightening first. But I think the results have rekindled his desire to do another resto and put them on a bike finally. Good result....

Have them crack tested or dye pen them yourself if you're going to use them. A guy I know hospitalised himself recently when fitting tyres to some vintage mag wheels. The rim exploded when inflating. He was in a proper bad way and now uses a cage to pop all tyres on. Those barrels look superb by the way. Quality results again!

I'm having a blast! Building a portfolio of jobs and refining the secret process- cracking results on brake parts before painting...

secret process.....
its a dark art, almost on a par with chrome plating, will I need a blindfold with me when I bring my caliper?
what about a master cylinder? will the voodoo work on them?

Yes, the Magicote Black Satin goes straight on Dave. This caliper (Kawasaki 750 H2C) is a Tokico brand and was originally painted black. The Kawasaki Triple guys are at least as passionate as SuperDreamers about the correct finish I have found! Apart from the cosmetic results- vapourblasting is a good way to clean all the internals of the caliper without removing base material- otherwise it would be quicker and easier to dry blast it as for other items ending up painted...

Dave's issue with cleaning up the TC's Comstars reminded me of an experiment I conducted a while back. These wheels are sooo... sensitive to any treatment and I haven't seen many without some kind of damage to the incredibly fragile finish. We don't even know what finish it is- plated? brushed? anodised? Any attempt to clean up these Comstars seems to result in an obvious bodge- my CB900FZ has terrible Comstars that seem to have been rubbed to death and spoilt an otherwise perfect bike. This is what vapourblasting does to these wheels. I think a good clean-up and finish results- and you would probably never notice a difference from original if you ever saw the treated wheels and bike. But.... as in the last photo- still different. I wonder how Honda produced these wheels?...
