Even with all this kit it still does come down to spending a lot of time rubbing and grinding by hand. I have my doubts as to whether that is something people will pay for. Best just blast and return and let the owner put the time in. I think a lot of people would be happy with that service - I certainly would. I've just done the footrest brackets & the hard part was getting them to the standard of your just-blasted clutch cover a few pages back. Polishing them up from that standard was the easy part - I even enjoyed that bit!

This one is on the 'Bay now, together with the clutch cover I did. It's the practice and technique I am focusing on. Even with all this kit it still does come down to spending a lot of time rubbing and grinding by hand. I have my doubts as to whether that is something people will pay for. Best just blast and return and let the owner put the time in. If anyone has anything needs doing then PM me- please don't overhaul a set of carbs without getting them blasted as the results from that still impress me the most! I think genuine enthusiasts need to fully get behind what you are doing......NOS is running out if it hasn't done so already therefore this is the next best option. In fact, even NOS will not necessarily be perfect after all these years especially on a factory lacquered part like this. Hopefully the demand will pick up soon and people in the know will be biting your hand off for covers in this kind of form - you are not asking big money considering the work involved. Keep up the great work Paul.

Over the years I have spent serious money on parts that look no where near that good!

I keep coming back to the earlier pictures in the thread, and I'd be happy with how just how the part is blasted

Is the SD market swamped by our German friends and the likes of your favourite seller Living the SuperDream and others?...

I am very impressed with the results paul, would it be an idea to put up a price list for various parts to be blasted?

After reading wazzbo's guide, I'm gonna refurb my carbs. At what stage of the refurb should I send my carbs ( to you?) for vapour blasting?

After reading wazzbo's guide, I'm gonna refurb my carbs. At what stage of the refurb should I send my carbs ( to you?) for vapour blasting? After the initial cleaning off of the outside as per Dave's advice, dismantle and remove all of the internals. Then the main carb body, vacuum top, float bowl and air cut cover are blasted separately inside and out. Then- again as I think Dave advises- the carb body would ideally be ultrasonically cleaned both to clear the internal passages/jets and to ensure all the glass beads are removed. The other parts will be good to refit after blasting. All the removed jets and parts would need a dunk in the US bath as well.....

Bought them! I can now swap them onto the bike and have the time to mess about with the originals. Eventually I might have two sets of covers, one as per crouchyuk and the originals polished and lacquered, after having them vapour blasted, of course.
