I recorded all my dealings with the archmeister Steve- I have every single message and post I made on the old site.
But in this story the tall handsome star of the show is still some months off appearing in this movie- I never joined up until mid 2013....

Unless I'm forgetting anything, nothing really that memorable happened between the end of 2012 and May 2013 which is when the meet at Rutland meet took place......for me, this was time to put faces to names....and my intention was to go along and have fun with these guys. And have fun we did. It was a great location and I can honestly say I had a great time.....everyone I met on this meet was (strangely) just how I expected them to be.
I rode up to the venue with Carl.....meeting him for the very first time just off the M40 junction 16 in Henley-in-Arden. His ride at the time was a green Pan European Honda, registered on an R plate making it a 1997/98 bike.....I instantly hit it off with Carl - this being the first time I'd met him but I was not disappointed - big smile and I reckon an even bigger heart to match - he instantly struck me as the classic 'biker'......the one who had been there and done it all living through the period the Superdream stood for....I was privileged to ride up and attend the meet with such a person.....great great guy.

The meet at Rutland was good. I recall pulling into the field at The Old Rectory, Oakham on my silver CB400N and spotting the lads hitching up their tents. First one I noticed was Loz with his son Jack who were very busy making tea for us all. After taking off my helmet, I made the effort to walk around and greet everyone that I could see. From memory, present at that time was Loz, Jack, Shane, Terry, Mark from Northampton, Mark Trower and Graham B - with Cheggy and Trotsky pulling up and joining us in the field within a further 30 minutes later. When we all got settled, we took the bikes out into town and visited a fish and chip shop. Then we took a ride around Rutland before heading back to the camp site and heading out to the local boozer. As we pulled up at the water for a photoshoot and chance to take in the natural beauty of the surroundings, a local resident appeared in his garden and was very interested in the bikes, instantly recognising them as Superdreams - and looking impressed...........Loz shouted over to him 'two sugars please'.
Richard the camp site owner was a bit of a moany bugger - someone started up a bike around 7pm and he got quite grumpy about it - but did as we were told and killed the noise before heading to said boozer. During our time in the pub we were made welcome and joked about the bar maid working for Quik Fit in her spare time due to the roughness of her palms - clearly a hard working young lady - it was just light hearted banter. I recall getting some stick about not camping at this meet, more so staying in one of the chalets they had available on site. At around £25 a night, I thought it was a no brainer. Fantastic breakfast was also included to set me up for the ride back the following day.

Just remembered......... Mousey also joined us that evening at the boozer with his two sons......and was planning a mouth watering barbecue for the lads that stayed on into the second evening. Due to work constraints, I had to head off (Carl also too) so we ended up missing this event.

By the way, you didn't spot me there Paul as I never came to that meet.
Perhaps you could tell this part of the story? Would appreciate your account of what you remember from that meet.

I wasn't at the meet or on the forum then. I joined and put up my first post on 14 July 2013, after spotting some SuperDreams amongst a load of Fizzies parked up at Bridlington Harbour. I think I was on a ZX6-R at the time....

As we headed later into 2013, the forum carried on day to day looking the same old same old but membership levels must have been about to hit the 1000 mark.....and I thought that things just needed to be changed a little in order to keep the appearance of the forum fresh.......after what was now two years. In the July of that year, I was holidaying in California and one night I took the decision to alter the forum's appearance. I was told previously that I could do whatever I wanted to do and this included changing the forum's appearance if I saw fit to do it (or a communication to that effect). I recall making these changes during one evening whist I was on that holiday. This, little did I know, would spark off a chain of events that would lead to the eventual demise of the forum. Had I have known this to be the case, I would never had changed the forum's appearance, not in a million years.....this being a massive lesson to me on the importance of clear communication and honesty between forum admins.

The wind of change was now in the air it would seem. There were and still are, dare I say it, some stuffy buggers on the forum who hate change (you'll always get it and you'll never ever please them all) ....but sadly, change is a way of life - a need to keep things fresh sometimes. I already felt the forum was dull to look at from day one two years earlier and I wanted some of our member's bikes to appear on the top banner.......not some dowdy singular 1985 image ripped from the cover of a Haynes manual. From memory, mine were the first images to go up - but the idea was to rotate the images from time to time I made a few further tweaks to the appearance of the forum and to be honest I felt that I was doing a good job at it once I'd mastered the 'proboards' way of altering the look of things. Nothing was said by my fellow admin......but there was kind of an undertone from this point on.
During the late summer of 2013, I noticed a change in Shane. He would be very quick to jump down the throat of some members, two incidents I remember in particular that I personally didn't like the look of. From memory, one member ended up getting banned - I don't recall who it was but I think it was an altercation / disagreement over the sell of parts on the site. I also began to become a little intolerant with a member......not many members just one and just one thread in particular by a feisty member from Manchester calling himself 'Tornado'. A healthy discussion started about decals......but it went on and on and on......and I got so tired of this guy and what he was saying that for the first time ever I locked a thread and said.....subject closed. I regret that now - I should of just left it and not commented on it again......it is not as if I hadn't encountered supposed non-believing idiots on the forum before but this guy was just so incredibly annoying......but there are two sides to every story of course.
Shane was to announce around this time that his CB400NC was to be sold on and he asked me for my opinion on what I thought he should ask for it. I responded in a way that was short and sharp......I was not impressed he was to sell the bike and essentially be 'Superdreamless'.........his intention being to purchase a Yamaha RD to work on........a bike that was his true passion.

P.S - It's probably appropriate to mention before we move on that an active member on here uncovered the whereabouts of this machine totally by accident recently......from memory at a warehouse location somewhere South (when collecting another bike that he'd purchased). I'm sure I will be corrected if the location is wrong.

Yes, in April 2015 I was surprised to find a couple of SuperDreams squirrelled away in a non-descript warehouse down in Poole, Dorset. Basically just lifted up onto the roof of an internal office and left to decay in my view- fuel still in, batteries hooked up, tyres going flat. Quite sad how some "collectors" treat their investments- but hey ho. The story I got from the new owner was that he bought the 400 off some guy who was a big wheel in the SuperDream world- ran a forum and website and knew everything there was to know about them. Thus these 2 bikes were absolutely original and correct and the best in the UK. Bear in mind he never knew who I was and what bikes I had. He was happy with them- I was there for something far better TBH, but there are not that many late 400's around and I couldn't figure out which forum and which PO it could be. Of course our resident oracle and official historian on here knew the bikes- or at least the 400! A sad end to a bike which started the original forum and evolved into our community today. The bike is probably still there...
