Okay last one for tonight:
So, at this stage I felt bad because I knew our site had come just a little too late......had I or Bob have come up with that golden nugget - to promote the site on ebay then I think we would have been laughing. In a nutshell, over a month or so, Bob and I decided to close our site and I stayed with Shane.....putting as much as I could into one forum. I had a few rubs up against Geds.....he was not happy about me being the new kid on the block it seemed and the fact that I knew more about Superdreams than he did. To cut a long story short, after around a month more, Shane backed me and got rid of Geds. He (Geds) was often caught out by me - giving out inaccurate info to our members.....I recall Scott being one of them - and I couldn't just stand aside and watch it happen. It climaxed with Geds personally emailing me and requesting that I shove my NOS exhaust pipes up my nostrils - he promptly quit after this incident - well, rather he was pushed - he didn't jump.

It's something I can complete over time. Not had any time since the weekend to update it.

So with Geds gone it was me and Shane virtually running the show until more staff joined us over a longer period. From memory Ivorhugharse was always a staff member although he rarely did anything in a staff capacity at all. By around the September of 2011, I was made a moderator without even being asked. All I knew about Shane at this time was that he was a middle aged bloke from Doncaster who owned a tatty but original looking black CB400NC, from memory he bought it from a salvage company or somewhere similar. The forum had the image of this very model across the top of its banner, this image I instantly recognised as being the one taken directly from the cover of a Haynes Workshop Manual. The appearance of the forum didn't impress me but I didn't care about that at this time.....what was important was that there now was a place to talk Superdreams and I worked hard to ensure that the site was giving out information about the bikes that could be as accurate as possible and to the best of my knowledge.
It quickly became apparent that Shane had very little knowledge about Superdreams and that his passion really was with two strokes and 70's mopeds.......but it worked well. Shane was actually a pleasure to work with over a long time and we rarely fell out. If we did, it was quickly put behind us - he had a good sense of humour and we bounced off eachother well....coupled with the fact that he owned a Superdream and even though he always said the bike was not fully in his blood, he showed real passion and commitment in improving that bike...The fact that he liked the mechanical side of bikes and I was the 'detail' man just worked......and the member numbers continued to grow. The forum I felt was great for a long time - we put many new ideas and information into that site and we gained a lot of very interesting members, Mansell being just one of them. Mansell told the amazing story of being reunited with his red CB250NA again after around 30 years by stumbling across it on ebay.....it was a thrilling story and he worked hard to document what he had done on his bike. Member numbers continued to head high into 2012 what with the ebay ad still running for that light bulb....(that never actually existed as an item for sale). I recall once that Shane got annoyed because someone clicked buy it now thinking that they'd actually bought the forum.....I had to chuckle.

I felt that 2012 was a good year for the forum with member numbers heading towards the 500+ mark....but that said, it did seem that Shane was not fussy in any way about its membership, more the desire to just grow grow grow it. Early that year I was also 'promoted' to administrator status, but, much like when I became a moderator, I was not asked if I wanted to do it - it just happened. Don't get me wrong, I was grateful to receive this promotion.......but looking back it was probably the start of where things would later start to go quite wrong. Carl, Cheggy and Loz were (I think) also on the firm by this time, maybe a bit later, but either way they were all doing a grand job as mods and we worked together well. I seemed to quickly establish the reputation of 'resident anorak' often being quite scathing in my review of non original Superdreams for sale....I thought I took the joke well - often I was the target of abuse because of my supposed 'huge' stock of NOS and the insistence that genuine spares must be used at all times no matter what.. There was a meet that took place somewhere - this being the first forum meet but for some reason its location escapes me - somewhere North. I was unable to attend for various reasons, I think the weather forecast being one of them. I recall Shane, Cheggy, Loz and Paul (Kickstart) attending to name just a few and Cheggy experiencing problems with his kill switch during this meet - the attending members pulled together to help him out of trouble.. During the September of this year, I purchased a 1978 silver CB400N from Wales......documenting its cosmetical improvement and return to original form on the forum. This bike was to be my 'rider'.......well, that was the plan.

As we moved later into the final part of 2012, I felt that the forum was getting quite nicely established. It was also near the top of the SEO on Google when 'Honda Superdream' was searched which was also a great thing - it showed how popular we were getting. Member numbers continued to creep up daily and there was some fantastic banter taking place on the forum. Of course, there were the usual members that would register and say absolutely nothing. In fact , many would register and you'd not see or hear from them again. I have always found this kind of thing very odd on forums but it happens on all of them. The members that were contributing were great. However, Shane told me that he was concerned about the forum becoming, to quote his words in his accent 'A bit clickeh'. I had no idea what he meant really - well I kind of did, and it concerned me slightly. Of course we were becoming a bit clicky because a lot of us were gelling together as forum mates.....and talking about a bike we loved. It certainly didn't mean that we were excluding anyone, in fact many new members joined us and dived straight in with us and joined in with us....I thought, is this not what a forum is all about, having a good social side and banter? I have never wanted to frequent any forum where this important element is missing......there was no problem with clickiness on that forum at all in my opinion...and if there was, it was other people's over sensitivity.
I recall Ivorhughjarse being asked to organize a meet at Rutland for Spring 2013 but for some reason in the end, he just didn't want the responsibility of organizing it (due to time issues probably) and the job was passed around between quite a few admin and mods. Eventually, a venue was chosen and a date set at Rutland water for mid to late May. This meet co-incidenced for me with doing an article with Classic Motorcycle Mechanics and also one for Practical Sportsbikes whereby I lent them my CBR600......both magazines appeared on the shelves in the same month, the CBR600 actually making the front cover....in response to the up and coming articles which I told them about on the forum, I recall Ivor's comment 'your head will be so big, it won't make it through the door at Rutland'.
