Took the grinder to a 24mm socket, not perfect but it got the nut off.

I've got one of those - survived two strip downs on my 400NA & one on the 125, they're ok

that clutch looks identical to the one in my CBR600 Steelie (if so, it's good for 100bhp, so there's plenty of room to tune your superdream....)
Be careful using the threaded standy-up bits to hold the clutch - I snapped my first one doing that.

I’ve come to a bit of a halt with the teardown. I went to look at a 400 at the weekend (way too much money for a tatty bike) but it has made me want to go down the route of a standard 400 and keep the CD for more of a project.
On the lookout for a nice standard 400 now and the 250 engine bits are for sale.
