I'm enjoying lad/dad time as much as he is I think, it's also time away from his sisters, they aren't allowed in the garage!
With the top end off, how would you guys suggest locking the bottom end to get the rotor bolt off?

Bought a spring compressor, as this is the first 4stroke motor I've torn down. got the exhaust valve out, definitely seen better days looks to be eaten by the rust worm over time, the guide and seal seem perfect.

I did put a socket bar in, wasn't sure if it would be bad for the big end bearings.

Bolt is out, now it would seem there is no substitute for the correct Honda puller, anyone fancy lending me one?
I got all the rest of the (inlet) valves out, all passable if re-lapped.

The alternator extractor thread is the same as the oil filter bolt , nothing too special , I have used a conduit adapter in the past (as well as a steel filter bolt with care) .

I guess this it the tool Honda Alternator Rotor Puller Tool CB250N CB400N Super Dream 1970s/80s. HWT023 www.ebay.co.uk/i/251760775479But what is the thread? 20+ quid seems steep for a bolt with a hole through it

M20 x 1.5
Very common thread as already mentioned- used for threaded electrical conduit as an example. But you can find plenty of bolts on Ebay....

What type of conduit adaptor did you use Bojer we do conduit accessories in my work and they are not very expensive ? Would a 20mm brass bush do ?
