Gravity cast crankcases is the usual identifier , plus body colour air filter etc .

permanent mold casting or sand casting as it is often called was used on the first models as Honda didn't know how the public would take to the bike and was a cheaper way of making the casings and when they realised they had a winner they changed to diecasting

all wrong nothing to do with casting i am under the impression the ko had sand casting as well

Early ones had louvred side panels? I thought the answer was the sandcast cases on early ones

correct young sir, first bikes were just called cb750 they had no model suffix bikes that followed had model suffix ko, k1, k2 etc the cb750 had splitters under petrol tank and then 4x cables 1to each carb all the rest had a cable system like the superdream
