It's clear to see that no SD enthusiasts look in this thread.....therefore I nominate Bodie to ask a more generic question. Sorry to kill the quiz - will get my coat and not darken this thread's door again.

That's the changeover year from steel spokes to alloy spokes. I'm assuming a different profile of cover plate to allow for the thicker spokes?

Cant move to a new question without the answer to the last I have no idea to be honest Wheel became unique to the 250NB in this year so they factory fitted (riveted) the said item to the wheel. Earlier standard 78-80 comstars were supplied as a generic 250/400N part thus could be 'blanked off' in a retro fit kind of way. Nominate Bodie for next Q. If he's does not see this by 3pm today, you feel free to ask one BP.
