It was Malcolm Uphill on a Triumph Bonneville he was first rider to average 100+ on a production machine in 1969,Triumph used a picture of Malcolm on the Bonne in magazine advertising afterwards.One of those things I remembered as a bike mad teenager

My first real memories off racing are 1978 hail woods comeback year I was at ballaugh with my dad I was 13 and it was a epic race we were all counting down the seconds after hailwood went through to pat hennen and he was late!! He had crashed at over 150 mph just outside Kirk Michael that was the first time I can recall being really upset while watching motor cycle racing

Only been to TT once,must be great living there especially being with your Dad as a kid watching the racing Yes it was great there were hundreds of people counting down the seconds and we could not hear the comentry on the loud speaker in them days the radio comentry was done at ballaugh but now it is glen Helen.my dad was captain of the darts team so the land lady let me sit on top of a bay window that gave me a view right down the road to Kirk Michael The weather is not being kind this week for the start of the classic tt and not looking good all week ps what year did you go to the tt Dave?
