Would be good to see your £700 bikes and under (that are roadworthy). So many bikes we see are projects needing a lot of work or at the end of the scale - gorgeous - some are restored to the hilt and worth quite a bit of money. Rarely do we celebrate the nail / shed / banger - bikes that we are *genuinely* not afraid to ride come hell or high water or leave parked up anywhere.....but then these are also bikes that maybe you'd have faith in to get you around Europe very cheaply with still some 'life in the ole girl yet'. Here is my £360 (purchase price) 1998/R registration Suzuki GS500E. It meets the above criteria very well. It is roadworthy, not a project, came in under budget, and I would genuinely have faith in it getting me around Europe - was riding it around the garden earlier ......what you got?

Very tidy, Boje. Superdreams are heading North of that £700 now though. I would not class that as a shed.....it's a classic now. Surely worth a grand minimum? Do you possess any genuine sheds?

Flattering pic Fungo , TBH that bodywork went on 442 that I sold (probably too cheaply) and therefor paid off some of BBC from the original £550 for two deal ! She's awaiting a new set of painted "tins" and is "naked" currently . My CL looks a lot worse but I paid more than £700 for it so doesn't count . Now I find to have a decent £700 bike you probably need to buy it for say £500 and spend £200 on it . My (since sold) SV650 was £650 though -

I like the premise of this thread Fungo even though at the moment I don't have a bike that qualifies (in my eyes at least)! I will not ride my two AMC machines in the salt which means no go for several months now as they go nuts with the stuff here at the slightest hint of cold. I bought my first 450 as a "banger" - nice but rough and not precious (rusted away) but turned out I liked it so much I bought a much better, smart one that is now, erm, "precious" and doesn't go out either.
So, I am interested in what bikes get held up here as interesting, relatively cheap (say £500?), not precious but capable and for me, 250 or smaller.

Nice SV Ian,I had a 1 litre SV didn't realy like it but a 650 think I would. Used to ride my Velos through winter but always hosed all salt off after,I used to enjoy winter rides on an old clunker but they're worth more nowadays so have to be pampered

I paid a total of £700 for both these & they both were running with a mot both looked rough but sounded great & im still riding the right hand one now although I've spent a lot getting it looking more respectable the left hand one (deluxe) is all ready to be put back together within the next year although I've still to decide what colour as its not going to be black, either red or blue still undecided.

When they first came out I hated them but I would definitely get one as a steed now for sure if one came up at that money.

At the time (2013) I could not find a good enough example here in England.

Flattering pic Fungo Certainly is Ian......but make no mistake.....she's a banger. Very easy to tidy this up with paints I've had in the garage for at least five years. Will get around to it soon. Not afraid to use this one. Ask me to ride to London on it in January and I would.

Ardstraw, my goodness thats a tiny place near Omagh, i haven't heard George Millars name mentioned in years. Its probably down to population as in more readily available then. Dunno. I've been over twice in the last ten years and rid two bikes home from England, generally i find it cheaper on your side of the pond. I'd say most of us think that way
Did you keep the County Tyrone number on it?
