I think you are deliberately misunderstanding the situation GB .....FB has a horn of unknown juice requirements and is unable to handle the equipment himself to measure it - that's where Mrs FB comes in , Because of the likely decibels - rising as time goes on FB reports, this "experiment" has to be conducted when the neighbours are away . I hope this has removed all misunderstandings surrounding FBs shiny new horn , after all he is very pleased with it...........

Here is a picture of my meter and the settings I'm doing the tests with. The 6v horn shows 16.83 (rising and falling) The 12v horn shows similar if not the same at 16.90 (rising and falling) Def 16 and not 1.6....

Interesting........but no I don't understand it either ! Looks like the 6V on 12v is no worse than the 12v as far as current goes anyway which is good . Off to see what I can find in the garage , might be the Digital Volt meter does not like the fast rising edges of a horn ? ie a an analogue meter might be better ? Would not expect those meter leads to take 16A for long and why read 16A on a 10A ? , my brain hurts , but will be back with more mumblings after some investigation and neighbour annoying .

'course my garage is not carpetted and central heated so bit cool out there but my findings Prof FB were: Digital meters do not "like" measuring the current demand of bike horns - mine read somewhere between 3 and 8A which is way higher than reality, I suppose trying to measure a current that switches at about 500 times a second is a bit of a challenge for them . The only analogue meter I could find did not seem to want to play ball on the 10A setting so gave up with that . Checking the impedance of the horn gives just under 4Ohm so on 12V, 12/4=3A , assuming the duty cycle of the horn is 50% gives an "effective" current of 1.5 A - back to where we may have been earlier After a lot of faffing I think if you can get the 6V horn to sound ok on 12v it will be fine .

Found an analogue meter that did work and the horn that gave all sorts of "odd" numbers on the DVM topped out at just over 1A - took about 1/2 second to rise up to that level though . All good .

My gosh you know your stuff Mr Bojer..... So in a nutshell, you think the horn will be okay? They have both got quite a high pitch (6 and 12v)....but the 6v is noticeably a bit louder. The H in MBH I assume means high as there are also other horns out there marked up MBL which I assume is low. There appears to be an adjuster on these horns......does that change the tone? Thanks a lot. So I'll leave it on...... P.S - no heat in my garage

After five pages I think the conclusion is that they should be just dandy on 12v ! Ah , that makes sense the H and L , like for the 900F when you have two mounted together up front . The adjuster can sort of change the tone some but they will be designed for a specific range I guess,as you pointed out - adjustment is usually just when they stop working as the points wear etc and prob best left alone it its working ok . Good work !

Essentially CB450DX items - but (I believe) they are two 12v (MBH2E) horns......that cable is a bit of loom to link them together.
Will report back when I get hold of the little blighters.
