Any eyebrows left FB ? I had dismissed ideas of adding resistors , but sounds ( ) like it should work out ok with a bit of adjustment ...........

Oooh , dats good then - but an ammeter check would be good just to make sure the switchgear is going to be ok .....

Probes in "com" and maybe "10A" sockets ? Set selector to at least 10A , fit earplugs , assuming digital meter , one probe to battery , one probe to horn , other horn connection to battery - check reading

Yes, my meter has com and 10a sockets....currently the red (positive) probe is plugged into the 10a and the black one in the com....
So I put the black probe on the positive battery terminal and the red probe on one of the horn connections?

So I put the black probe on the positive battery terminal and the red probe on one of the horn connections? If its a digital meter it won't care which way round the probes are connected , you'll just get a negative reading -3A instead of +3A . To keep things tidy - red probe on the positive battery connection , black probe to horn connection , earplugs in , and other horn connection to battery In ammeter mode the meter is low resistance so you are just using it as a connecting "wire" that happens reads current . But being low resistance you do not forget its in current mode and connect it across a battery or it will try and draw loads of current - and pop the internal fuse at least . makes sense ? - or as much as my posts do .

I'm fine until you get to the last bit.
I did say baby steps......
What do you mean by 'other horn connection to battery?
I'm not an octopus, Boje.....

You just need to use the meter as the wire connection from one side of the battery to the horn - the other side of the horn needs to be connected to the other battery terminal - bit of wire or just hold the spade terminal on the battery whilst the other connections are made . Clear as mud ?

Very - that's easy....why the heck did I fail physics? Any idiot could this.
It is a bit fiddly mind - will have to hook the battery out - that said the F-I-L's Audi is parked here doing nothing.......huge mother of a 12v battery in that though - easy to access - it's located on the rear offside near the spare wheel well - will save getting my battery out on the SD to reach the neg terminal....Sounds like a plan?

Yep an Audi battery will produce lots of sparks and amps and I don't suppose he will miss it ?
Or if you've already done it on the bike just disconnect one spade from the horn , insert the probe in the spade connector other probe to horn and push button - how many hands was that ? .... then do same with 12v horn to compare current draw - by this time your neighbours will be really enjoying HMC OE horns........

Genius - I will do this tomorrow night as I'm off up to the sack in a bit....
Will report back.....what kind of reading are we looking for by the way?
I'll leave the Audi alone as I don't fancy shelling out for its systems to be recalibrated and dash lights turned off....
