The O.E (genuine) horns on most SD's have always appeared to be a marked up Mitsuba MBH-2E along with the markings you can see in white of course.
The horn on SBY is cosmetically well past it.......
Today I skanked this NOS horn for around 9 pounds delivered......it looks near identical but is marked up MBH-1E. It will be interesting to see if there is much difference. I thought at that money, it was worth taking a chance.

When I read this first, I thought you were going to fit giant bull horns to the front headstock of your SD, sort of like what the yank cowboys fit to the bonnet of a huge car. My brain didn't click in until I saw the pictures of the sound horn.

My horn arrived today and my suspicions are confirmed - it is a 6 volt horn not 12 volt.
Such a shame as it is truly mint.
Right, what bike could this be for then? Any suggestions guys? I am going to re-bay it.....

Beginners mistake that Nick- we thought everyone knew that the Mitsuba MBH-1E wouldn't swap in for the MBH-2E? Not many 6V bikes around after the 60's- could it be intended to be used as a pair in series?

It's a bit cruel but if you can make it sound ok with adjustment just use it on 12V ? - it doesn't get used except for MOTs so the duty cycle is low and I'd expect it to survive.
XL/CB & early CG 125 would be 6V ?

Just try it on a battery Nick that way only the horn shorts out not half your electrics Ideally with a fuse .............then if all good an ammeter check for current draw would be good ...... the spring in the horn button carries the current and "apparently" if you overload it the spring loses it's set , ahem I have been told
