Need some advice .........I have stripped the carbs today,i found a lump of soft liquorice looking goo in both, looking in the manual they appear to be whats left of the plugs covering the slow jets, can i buy these, are they required or can i plug the hole with petrol proof sillicone, does anyone have any views My advice is to get on CMSNL and get part numbers (from exploded views) for the parts you need in those carbs. Then cross reference (first) to see if you can get them in the UK from someone like David Silver. If that fails, get searching for a very tidy set of complete used carbs on German ebay.

Can't agree more - used this method myself for replacing nuts n bolts when I was renovating my SD. Wanted to keep everything genuine Honda where possible. CMSNL is a fantastic resource for part no's indeed - they have loads of exploded diagrams with every part no. you could need. You can buy the parts from them, but because they're in Holland, you get stung on postage charges. Just search for the P/N you find on CMSNL on DS's site, place the order, and Robert is your Mother's brother

buying oe spares to "profit" ones self is not really what an enthusiast does is it?? buying the bit to make the nike as oe as possible ( canned air from japan, radioactive these days ) is ok, even getting a spare for future is ok as well but to "profit" is a bit against the grain............make a profit is ok but make a killing, or rip off is summut else. soom will think " sour grapes" i'm sure and some will think f u etc...........those that know me ( poor, an sd is one up from a bus etc etc etc....info and advise given freely.......for the benefit of similar people, and sd riders )........... so...............i'm not sure of here.........

Dont fret Rich - I think he was only joking!!!
He has an old pattern collector box (the 'straight through') which he wanted replacing with a proper example. The way prices are on fleabay these days, I think his comment was a piss-take of those who charge extortionate prices for rubbish.
You know what we are like Rich - honestly mate!!! If we can help out a friend - we will. Look at the other posts where this has happened.
And BTW - you WILL be seeing us some time this summer. I have plans for a ride-out round your neck of the woods!!!!
