I used to use GT85 on the engine of the 250 I had before I painted it black it stopped it furring up as quickly which meant less cleaning but black paint needed even less cleaning which was even better

That'll keep you busy for a while Nick, especially if you're leaving the engine in the bike. Thanks for the info on GT85 guys, I think I'll save my money & use 2T oil & give it a shake around now & again. Like Dave, I've never had a problem just keeping my bikes in the dry & riding them now & again through the winter, but this water absorbing property in ethanol seems to have everybody spooked. I'd have thought keeping the tank topped up to reduce condensation would minimise the water absorbed anyway. But.....with my wife off the road, I can't ride all our bikes so I've decided to lay up a couple, and the SD tank is easy to deal with in this way.

You can get Aspen down to around £2.77/litre- £12.61/gallon. But you have to buy in bulk. Unload with a forklift bulk. Still expensive. Cheaper than a carb stripdown though....

Murco garage, on the A422 near Stratford Upon Avon this evening - approximately 7:07 Greenwich Mean Time.......
I was filling up my humble red Ford Fiesta 1.25 'Edge' edition (59 brake HP....wow).........when I could not help but notice the price of unleaded on the pump.................£1.08p....
Has it dropped in price because of all the ethanol in it?

Brent Crude down to less than $50 a barrel, OPEC decided not to cut back production to keep prices high (like they always have done).
I think fuel prices now down to 2010 prices and set to drop further......

You mean the Aspen I bought before the price plummeted? I am truly Mr Betamax here, sigh.....

petrol is dropping in price because its lobbying for killing off deisel cars, the manufacturers want to sell hybrid cars because its green for the publique conscience (even though they havnt yet found a solution for what they are going to do with the batterys when they are dead,at the moment they are dumped in other countrys like neucleur waste, ie you pay and its someone elses problem.)
for ethonal petrol, the problem isnt just the water content that rots your carbs etc, its the products they put in to keep the octane levels up. these rot o-rings end oil seals. been there with my aprillia RS250 and it cost a lot of money to put right.

I always like to have spare carbs in reserve for all my bikes....especially after all this scaremongering which of course may or may not be justified......I think the former. So I got these from our German counterparts as a back up. Suzuki parts seem to be bloody expensive. These carbs (after costing them up) would probably set me back around fifteen hundred notes if sourced from Suzi......
