Hi Steve. Yes I remember the Hillman Imp well and all of the problems. Head gasket, clutch, water pump. To mention just 3. Quite a revolutionary design from Rootes in the UK when it was introduced in 1963, with rear engine and overhead cam. It was faster in a straight line that a Mini but I think the handling could be interesting if you tried cornering fast. However it must have been popular as if I remember correctly it had a 9 year production run. I think it also had some rallying success All the best. Mike.

Hi Steve. Yes aluminium head. The water pumps often failed at the seals and very quick water loss followed. The engine overheated and the head would warp. Mike.

Hi Fungobat. Looks like I got the car type wrong. It's an "M" reg, so that would make it a 1972/3. It would have to be a MK1. Mike.
