just a theory, but I dont think you'd go far wrong putting a 250 camshaft in a low power engine (good 400 camshafts can be a bit thin on the ground) the difference in lift is minimal between the uk 250's and 400's. Could well be a plan, if there no difference been the 250 & 400, but I don't have a 400 one to compare with a 250 one. Is all the size translation, just done with the different rocker arms? They were talking about the cams, and conversions, up & down in power (approx 12 years ago), on one of the German forums.....One poster noted that;- "34mm:
14101-414-601 CB250N, CB250T 14101-413-711 CB400N, CB400T, CB450N, CM400T 14101-ML4-650 CB450S
37mm:
14101-414-010 CB250N, CB250T 14101-443-010 CB400N 14101-413-010 CB400T, CB450N, CB450S, CM400T
The problem with it is that there are no features apart from the cam height, on which one can distinguish a dismantled used shaft."Don't think they mentioned the rocker cover issue... "The two-cylinder engines of the CB250T / CB400T from around 1977 to the CB450S are each available in two different power levels.
The 250s are 17 and 27 HP, the 400s and 450s are 27 and 43 and 44 HP respectively.
Basically, the two versions differ in other camshafts."I'm sure I saved a picture of a German Ebay seller demonstrating the cam height(s) with a digital caliper, but can't locate it a the moment (bet it is probably on the PC in Thailand).
