Yes think its best to make sure everything is ok at first.
See how it goes, I might not even fit the cam, im just a sucker for purchases at the start of a new project!

Yes had a look earlier what a great selection, already downloaded workshop manual.
Was taking a look at the head overhaul procedure, and was surprised it didnt include the bolt tightening sequence?

nice that it seems to be complete hopefully a bit of minor fettling (lap the valves in etc) and you should be in business. the 450 nighthawk camshaft measured 36.9mm on an inlet, not too bad for a 26000 mile engine. Hi Buster, My cam arrived from the USA and measured the same as yours. Great I thought.....until I read the service manual..... back to the future jenniferApparently 36.9mm is the service limit! Not sure if that means the hardness layer is nearly gone, or nothing to worry about?!

I wondered about that too, I'll have to see if I can find the spec for the 450sc (I suspect they might have used the 250 uk spec cam?) I can say I was really pleased with my own top end (about 26000 miles) and at a cursory glance there seems to be very little wear

The 450 cam lobe height is about 0.8mm lower, the 250 is almost the same as the 400 for cam profile.
