dont know if your interested but the cams (full power) can be a bit tricky to come across but there are firms out there that could re profile a low power cam to the standard full power spec. sadly its an expensive business however you look at it.

Hi Buster
Spent most of last night researching which hondas of the era used the higher lift cam, and I may be wrong but seems the cm400 and 450's are compatible.
Currently watching a few camshafts, but need to confirm if I could get away with using my existing rockers if I had the new camshaft reground (same scenario as fitting a brand new cam?).
Thinking this would be a cheaper option to having the 34.5mm cam built up and then re profiled....?

I'll drop the verniers on my 450sc camshaft if I get chance tonight, as that may be another option

Thanks Buster would be appreciated. Looking at a cb400 and cm400 side by side the cm (bottom image) appears to have wider lobes....

Just add, after a little more research-
The top image is of the 27ps cb camshaft. Looking through google images (assuming they are reliable) have found images that show the full power cb camshaft has wider lobes aswell as a higher lift, as per the cm....

See what you mean - here is your photo with the lower camshaft reversed so they are in the same direction Going to have a look under my Rocker Box Cover at the weekend

Will be interesting to see what you find as you said your 400 was noticeably quicker than your 250....

nice that it seems to be complete hopefully a bit of minor fettling (lap the valves in etc) and you should be in business. the 450 nighthawk camshaft measured 36.9mm on an inlet, not too bad for a 26000 mile engine.
