Why did they drop the internals on the CB450DX collector I wonder.
Paul - I believe you got a DX collector off of Kev Joyce......is yours also hollow inside ?

I got one a few weeks ago but I sent it down to Reading to be worked on as I could not get the screws out. It was the second one I picked up last month.....the one I got from the states came from a CM400 (the one I had to mangle the heat shields on). The latter one indeed had the internals.
None of these two had sankei markings visible as they had worn away.

Interesting stuff gentlemen, you guys do know a few things about bikes We're like an ant's nest- individually we are quite thick, but as a large group we get things done! After several hours this evening fighting my way back up the linear car park previously known as the M1- called in at work to look at these power chambers. Compared the 2 types by also unlocking the secret NOS store and getting a new 413 collector box down. Both types are identical externally- this is Kev Joyce's 450DX and is gorgeous- as new condition:- Both types have the "SANKEI 2032" stamped on the top:- And then the differences- on the underside you get "HM413 HONDA" or "HM MCO HONDA";- Internal differences? Interesting. Mine both have internal structure or baffles so can't comment on empty versions. Both types seem to route the inlet from one side across to the other in what looks like a 90 degree internal swept bend- sort of squirting the LH header across to the RH side of the chamber and vice versa. If I look into the silencer (exit) ends on the MCO 450DX box the internal pipe is a solid tube. But the HM413 box has the internal pipe perforated with holes. I only got a good photo of the box with perforated internal pipes:- Apart from guessing this makes the proper Superdream box more "rorty"- I haven't had time to work out why they are different. What do the other ants think?

If you ever get an old one of these I would love to see a cross section of it cut open to see all of what is inside it.
When it does eventually rot on my CB400n, I wonder would there be much loss in low end and mid- range power to use two separate pipes without it.

I'll let you know next spring cos I;m going to try mine out without a collector I dont think there will be that much difference with mine as I have the pattern one (H section) so no internals at all

When I get the DX one back I will look again....
I knew there was an internal difference but maybe it was the lack of holes that fooled me into thinking it was hollow....
Will report back when I get it returned.
Interestingly, I have seen another MC0 stamped box and a 413 which both have the perforations.....

Has anyone ever chopped one of these open or got pics of a butchered one? I'd be interested to see the internals.
