I fancied getting one of these for a while, now I have found the right one, 45 years old, 4800 miles on the clock and totally original and unrestored

That is a very good find, good as new frankly. My first bike, bought to commute but it sowed the seeds of a life long enthusiasm. Like you bluedreamer, I wouldn't mind one especially for those local trips.

It was also the first bike I ever tried to ride (WNL 12J) my dads, started it up and round the garden when he was out, must have been about 12

After TMW gave up the ghost (frame rot around the rear shocks), a motorcycle mechanic friend of my dad's got me another - a really nice 8k mile red one for 60 notes!!!. But it was a later one on a W reg - LWF 976W in fact - with an extra little square side light below the main headlamp. Equally as good to ride but I loved the earlier ones more with the two tone white and black dual seat and white side panels.
What year is that one you have Irene? It'll be a '68 to '77 I reckon.

Yes mate on the red one - taken by my grandfather around 1982.
Just realised Irene said hers was 45 years old - making it a 1971 - so J or K reg.

Anyway....back to the C50.
I used to ride mine to a VAG apprenticeship I got after I left school - July 1990.....the mechanics took the piss out of my C50. Called it a chicken chaser. Bastards!!!
