Who is bullying and who is being bullied?
Member to member pm messages, whats wrong with that, unless of course the pm contains bad stuff, but i am sure that members who did that bad stuff can and would be named and shamed, right! and quite rightly so !!
My intention was/is to help the chap who probably has no hair left by now, going round and round in circles trying to get his sd to run, via pm, but not allowed to, but this place has sorted the problem and his bike now runs all ok. Job done and a good job done well, Pat your selves on the back and feel happy, I know the chap will be absolutely delighted and truelly thankful.
Who is spoiling for a fight, not me dude, life is much to short for that stuff and achieves nothing, as you well know.
In that case you would have got those pics of the flouro pink hardtail I made out of BBC ?
bojer, i now nothing of this , tell me more....smily face smily face smily face.....sorry no yellow faces thingies on reply box.

Apologies for the rather long pause. It's been quite a while since I first made the original post but life threw the proverbial into the fan so, after several difficult months, I'm now trying to pick up where I left off. No, the bike issues were not solved so it has sat for the winter but I have been trying a few things out and now looking at replacing the alternator. Have to see how that goes.

It happens - that's why my 450 sat for so long I have a set of known good coils with plug caps that I'm selling on eBay - in the eBay section of the forum there is a thread titled "CB450dx being broken on eBay - many parts available" with a link. Item ID is 201939795171. I'm pretty confident the 450 coils are compatible with the supedreams, but the CDI unit definitely is not. I'm asking £50 + P&P on eBay as they're the only ones available for that bike apart from pattern ones which are rubbish, but will do good discounts for forum members Despite the fact I'm selling a set (and other bits as well), before you go buying new parts, check you don't have a wiring fault that's earthing the single wire coming out of the CDI unit - that kills the spark but everything else still works. Could be a faulty ignition switch, fault in the loom (technically what happened to mine - I built a loom off the wiring diagram, and the wiring diagram in the Honda manual was wrong!) or connector issue earthing it if that's the case. You can rule that out by disconnecting that single wire, and seeing if you then get a spark. Definitely worth a try.

tlrjunkie, thanks for the offer and advice. I did get hold of a coil but still no joy and now have a stator on it's way. The connections/earths etc were checked before hand but it's an interesting point you make about the manual diagram being wrong. Now that will not be helpful, would it! Do you, or anybody else know if the stators are interchangeable between the 250 & 400? I have one on it's way but now know of a 250 part that may be available, just wondering if it's worth grabbing as a spare just in case?

You're welcome, and no it's definitely not helpful especially when one is building a loom from scratch using the manual diagram to make it... Took me a while to trouble-shoot that one. It was during that process that I learned about the earth wire on the ECU. It was earthed permanently in my loom. I couldn't figure out why it would turn over but not start. For quick testing, I just rigged everything up; I didn't have the silencers fitted. I damn near shat myself when I disconnected that wire and tried again

Well done for working that out, as you may have gathered, auto electrics are definitely not my forte. Haha They are noisy beasts without their cans on aren't they. I SAID THEY ARE NOISY BEASTS WITHOUT.....never
mind.

Well that didn't do the trick. I've had the stator rewound but no joy. So it seems a replacement CDI unit is the last throw of the dice. I have seen some new online though pretty pricey, also seen used but heard of two or three being purchased before a working one was found. So can anybody here please recommend a supplier of either a new or used unit? Thanks.

I thought you'd tried a different cdi? Rex speed shop do a remanufactured cdi. I've got one for my 400N, but haven't got round to fitting it yet. A few on here have them, but it seems the rest of the electrics, especially the stator, have to be up to scratch & they aren't cheap. I also think they will test the stator & cdi for you. I'm currently running a 250 cdi on mine. These have different timing curves, but I haven't noticed much difference in performance. These are more plentiful than the 400 cdi, so maybe you could pick one up cheap to check if it is the cdi that's faulty? The cdi has failed on both my 400s, but the two 250 versions I have ( my 250NB & the one on my 400N) have never given any trouble
