My head is worth a lot. But that said, I would not think twice about wearing a classic 35-40 year old Griffin or Kangol if the mood took me (to a bike meet where these bikes are being exhibited for example).
Why? Because it's in keeping with (most) of the bikes I am into. And if my time is up and god decides it's time for me to come off and have a crash where my head slams a car or a kerb then so be it - it's my choice......to go out in style.

I can not comment on that fungobat but when you iron your Flair's do you put the crease on the sides or front to back

I'm not always convinced about these premium price helmets after being shown the sharp testing page, the shoei nxr has lower side impact resistance at £390 than a caberg Duke flipfront at £160. What's that all about?

As far as sharp are concerned that shoei is on par with a £40 g-mac helmet which I used to take the mick out my mate for having, which he always actually said was very comfortable. I mean whats the extra money going on, now I've seen these test results I don't know what to think?

I have a caberg duke and a shoei neotec.
The caberg is rated better than the shoei in almost every area. I also find the caberg more comfortable to wear. The caberg is £300 cheaper, I think that's a lot of brass to pay just to have the shoei name on it, with no real safety advantage over the caberg.

It's like everything else in life, they've all passed the same safety standards you just chose if you want to pay big bucks for a branded logo, it's a snob thing really.

Usually better design and more features- the premium helmets used to be lighter and more comfortable too. But less so now- after being an Arai man for years I bought another brand after they failed to introduce an internal flip down sun visor.....

The caberg also has a flipdown sun visor Paul, but the shoei is slightly easier to operate since caberg moved the slider to the top rear of the helmet.

I am not saying low end helmets are no good have a £36 g Mac and it's a very light and comfortable a cabeg that's my work helmet the fault with the cabeg the viser lifted up at speed, the police took my helmet away as my accident was classed as life changing life threatening the road was shut for 5 hours I was told ,the report states there was two impact points on the left side of the helmet .the first impact is the road impression that's at the back injury compression of the neck permeant nerve damage for life.the second is from hitting the curb head first 4 broken ribs dislocated shoulder permanent damage to the Burris.this helmet took two major impacts in less than a second.i have never payed more than £200 for a helmet there is always deals on .it saved my life what is that worth.griffen helmets what a joke read about them went bust through law suits all I will say recycled plastic

Yeah wasn't emplying anyone is wrong to pay for a helmet that's a lot more cash, but that cheaper has the same or better in some cases safety spec, just thought I'd share because it was only the other day at the pub some guy was telling me about the sharp website and asking what helmet i use, so he could look it up. Think he felt a little shocked at the safety record not been top score for the money he had paid for his shoei. Shared this on the Lincolnshire bikers page, the debate was massive.
