Don't you all think though that modern helmets look sh*t when riding a classic bike?
If you are conscious of this and you must have a new helmet then go for a Biltwell.....Personally I'd ignore the Bell Bullit as I think they are trying too hard and have actually missed the point.

I agree, period helmets look better on the classic stuff, but you can still crash a classic and I know what I'd sooner have on my nut when it hit the road.
A modern helmet without question.
In my opinion staying alive is more important than what I look like on my bike...

Makes a lot of sense does that Dave the scary thing is when I had my first SD back in 81 I was wearing a pudding basin simply because it fit inside my leather ( it almost fit in my pocket ) the protection that offered was zilch but it was legal sort of ,and convenient

I tend to go for so called premium brand helmets as I do think they are better. I have a Shoei XR1100 at the minute but am currently looking at a new Schuberth S2 as I tried one on and was really impressed with the fit and feel of it and it has a drop down sun visor which I was after and is also meant to be one of the quietest lids on the market. I would never wear an open face helmet due to the fact the first accident I had I landed on the road chin first and saw the damage it done to the chin bar of the helmet and I probably wouldn't have been doing anymore than 20 to 30 mph. I read something recently where a guy said your helmet will pick you if your doing it right by which he meant pick a helmet that fits correctly rather than the one you want, as I'm sure we all know certain brands suit certain people. I like the feel of Arai helmets but they just didn't fit my bonce. With regards to the sharp ratings I also read that due to the specific nature of the testing manufacturers can just strengthen the specific areas of the helmet which the Sharp test targets which means it may be weaker in other areas. I agree with Paul in that the more expensive helmets are definitely produced with better features and materials than cheaper brands. Also have a look round any race paddock and see if you can see any Box or Blue Square helmets I know certain racers are sponsored by the helmet makers but even the guys operating out of the back of a van will have recognisable brand helmets. The truth is there is only one real way to find out how effective your helmet is and I don't want to find out a £39.99 helmet isn't as good as a Shoei the hard way. Lastly on the point of style over function, I'm sure, should the worst happen it will be a great comfort to those left behind that you went out in style.
