Fungo i thought the na came out in march or april 1980 ? Wealdenrust says its 1979.. Nice observation Dave.....and yes. Need some clarification on this. The NA's were *officially* 1980 year bikes. But I can tell you that there was a red CB400NA up for sale a few years ago on ebay where the seller also stated it was a 1979. It was NA right down to its engine and frame number (beginning 210). The seller refused to supply me with the reg number so I could check it out properly but he was adamant it was a 1979 - and it looked 100% NA. Again, he would not even volunteer its month of reg in 1979 so it all stalled there. Maybe it is possible some NA's arrived here late 1979.......for Honda dealer demonstration purposes perhaps? But yet to see evidence of this. 1979 seems way too early for any NA......but never say never. Wealdenrust - please may we ask the month and year of registration for your bike? Or perhaps even PM me your reg number? It would help us.

Ooh shiney- they will look good on! Are the internal pipes on that balancer box perforated at all? Looks like a CM400 box from here..... No perferation in the pipes but a perforated steel net around the glass-fibre filling the whole 'tummy' area.

What make are the silencers? they certainly look the part. They were bought off Ebay from classicbikeshop.co.uk (£100) For that price and the state of the originals I'm happy, if they fit? Ha Ha

WR is going to start his very own resto thread soon.......he will kick it off with the exciting news that this is indeed a genuine early CB250NA.......confirmed registered in.....wait for it...........1979. I'm sure he will provide more details when he kicks of his thread....but.......I have certainly learned that NA's first appeared on these shores than I first believed. Amazing stuff.

This revelation means that snotty nosed teenagers across the U.K were pressing their noses up against dealer's windows as Christmas 1979 approached - gawping through the glass at NA's and not N's.
Not in all cases of course......some dealers must have been selling 'em quicker - meaning they would of been the first to get the new models*
*Possibly.

Just in case you haven't already guessed the state of 'Subject 2815' here's proof of the problem of 35years in a shed. :-( My fault the photo disappeared, sorry, here it is again.
