I'm Jay, I'm based in Nottingham and run a ratty 1982 CB250N
I've owned my Superdream for ten years, its on its second petrol tank, second front wheel and third engine.
I keep thinking I should make my little beastie pretty again, and then I think about how many parts need to be replaced for that.
I have a weird love/hate relationship with the beastie, I love her when I look at her.
Then I'll ride her a long distance swearing at her all the way and terrified she is about to break down on me. Again.

Thank you guys.
I've put some pictures of the beastie in the gallery. As to the miles covered, that starts to get complicated. The frame has done 20k or so, the engine and a number of the other parts are unknown.
I purchased the bike in 2005 as an impulsive eBay thing for the grand total of £105. From what I understand although it had been previously very loved before its rider came off the road and it had spent a couple of years in a field in Wales. I intended to ride it after I passed my test, although in the end I ended up with another bike and kept this as a back up.
Beastie lived in the garage for a while and then after a couple of years I had the engine rebored and it was on the road briefly. I ran it for about six months and then it went back into the garage to change the timing chain. Unfortunately the engine was in a crate over winter that was under the only leak in the roof. I eventually got a replacement engine in 2014 which failed in the early hours of Christmas day outside Sheffield.
So earlier this year I found another engine and had that fitted (I discovered that its cheaper and quicker if I get someone else to fix it) which is fine, although I'm pretty sure I had better performance out of my CG125, the handling terrifies me and I need to make an appointment for the braking to occur. I was fine as I was running it as a backup bike to my GPZ, an unfortunate meeting with the back end of a transit has put the GPZ on the bench for the time being and I am back to riding Beastie.
Friday I brought her up to Huntingdon via Leicester, although it took a while with a lot of swearing and I got massively overexcited when I managed to overtake four wagons on the A14!

Again. This sounds like the kind of relationship Ken Boon had with his BSA A65 in the TV series Boon....incidentally this was filmed in your neck of the woods (later series). Welcome to the forum.

I'd not thought about Boon in years, it was compulsory viewing our house in the Eighties...

Hi Jay, welcome along. I've got a similar relationship with my 400NA. Luckily, I have a couple of other bikes so I only use it when I'm sticking to local bus routes.

Not much difference in weight though, which is all that counts when you're pushing it home!
