And I maintain my opening comment when I first saw your bike - lovely looker. You have done a good job. The paintwork and decals look astounding for starters: Thank you, the paint and decals on tank and side cases are original and the decals on the back I had to have made. Perhaps I've been over sensitive, I don't mind criticism, but to my face, it's failing I suppose. If I had been emailed about this stuff I would probably have just refurbished the master cylinder and put another seat cover on. I still have the original master cylinder and seat cover, but the cover was split. The strap going over the seat is original.

You don't need to justify what you did - it looks an amazing bike that I would also love to have in my collection. Just watch out for buyers hanging on your every word - 'cause some will...

I think it's a lovely bike and you've done a great job, however I think some of your criticism is harsh as what makes this forum work is the diverse opinions and views amongst our members and the forum to speak your mind freely, we don't always all agree but we always agree to differ.
The knowledge of these guys is incredible and their always there to help you whether it's a total restoration or like most of us the best we can do with what we have to work with and the funds available.
Give it a chance and I'm sure you'll grow to love it, I did.
Cheers,
Fordy

hello i have not seen your bike and even if i had i would not criticize it. my superdream is a bitsa and its staying that way. there are individuals that get very upset that the screw in the left hand thingumajig is the wrong part number.thats there way and i have no problem with that.I hope your not put with this site by narrow minded individuals i have not read this thread and do not care to.if this site is to become a purist site i there say are numbers will get smaller. With total respect Mark, I like you a lot.....I've met you in the flesh and not just in cyberspace (you may recall) and I thought you were a very interesting guy who knows a lot about many different bikes. That said, this kind of response only fuels fires - the bit about 'narrow mindedness' is out of order.........you are making us out to be a terrible bunch by writing this. You are someone I think who frequents many different bike forums and, yeah okay, you have a bit of an interest in the Superdream but at the end of the day I think you can 'take 'em or leave 'em'.........I don't think I've ever actually seen a post about your Superdream from you, more other bikes which is cool (not saying it isn't)......because, as we know, diversity makes this forum what it is. But FFS - don't have a go at us for being narrow minded. Just needed to get that off my chest.....thanks.

That's a whole new can of worms mate, there is a seller on eBay currently advertising 2 oil sumps for superdreams, I emailed him to explain tht his oil sumps were actually rocker covers..... I got a message back saying he has been in the business for over 30 years and I should keep my nose out if I wasn't buying. Moral of the story.. it's not up to us to try and correct everyone else's misguided ways, unless they come on here of course

I had a guy who emailed me to tell me the headlight mounts I was selling weren't of what I thought they were and I thanked him and changed the description.

I mot the superdream I ride the superdream but not this year yet ,the front tyre looses air it's only let me down once ,in 7 years,I have had superdreams now for about 12 years,I believe if it's not broken leve it alone. The 400 was and still is my main run around roundabout 3000 miles a year on average, have not put out enney threads on it because all I have dune to it is ride it.and service work is well coverd. I think pulling bikes to bits on internet sites is petty and you do not know that they might be members or future member's bikes .not meney people buy old or classic bikes without knowing a bit about them .and the market is a level playing field you get what you get not what you want it's a buyers market.

I think pulling bikes to bits on internet sites is petty Still you don't get it mate....... People come here for credible knowledge and we do not pull bikes to bits......we have constructive discussions about them which enables potential buyers to make an informed choice. It also makes for interesting discussion between members about a bike we should all be here for - The Honda Superdream. I know your bike is not a showpiece like 90% of bikes on here........it doesn't have to be. But to criticize the purist element of the forum is wrong - I believe it's one of the massive strengths of the forum and it's why a lot of members followed here and built the future here. The reverse of what you said is actually the truth - if this element is lost, THEN members will dwindle. There is no other place like this on the net for Superdream info? Reason is we have some passionate members who properly know them. This is not just some general 'old bike' forum, you and others may wish it was but it's not - that said it's a place where we can talk about bikes and everyone's view is considered and no one should be attacked.

Calm down folks and let's not have any pointless fall outs. I don't think tiny tots set out to deceive anyone so I can understand how some of the original posts may have seemed slightly offensive to him, although I also believe this was not the intention of the original posters. If a comment or observation is the truth then it can't really be offensive although it can be worded to appear so. As for the purist's / non purist thing I think anyone who takes five minutes to browse this forum will see it cater's for all types and in fact the purists probably get more stick than anyone else on here. So sit back lads, chill out and remember this should be fun. And a last word for tinytots. "Wind your neck in you f**king eejit."

I think Harold is right.
The most offensive thing in my words were 'needs to cut the bull'.......but when that was written, we did not know the seller - not a member here.
We have so many traders out there making a quick buck on everything (not always traders as well) and I think one does get fed up with the utter bull that appears in adverts to sell something which is claimed to be something but basically isn't.
In this case, I think it was perhaps a genuine lack of knowledge that caused the advert to be written like that. The crime of the century? Of course not. Hopefully by trusting this forum, people can best represent their bikes in the future should they wish to sell them - it will save everyone a lot less headaches in the long run........and look, even my 400 has pattern silencers on it - but if I wrote an advert for it, I would disclose that. It doesn't take anything away from the bike or the seller.....if they are honest.
