Hammerite smooth silver is almost a perfect match for the Suzi silver,I always have a can of spray handy, its a regular job touching up the rust.;D

That's good to know Dave - cheers...
A mate of mine had one of these back when I first had SBY and from memory they sound quite sweet (like a lot of Suzukis).

I'm thinking of powder coating it sometime, as I want it to last another 5 years or so until I retire. Dave....

Yes Nick they sound quite nice ,and they aren't noisy with a standard exhaust on,which pleases my neighbours, as I start work work in the early hours most days.

Might seem odd FB but have a good look at the front engine mounting bolt area - they rust/corrode and can split the cases - ideally see it it can be loosened . The front mounting bolt in mine was "welded in" as were the allen screws holding in the exhaust collets ....... I found them quite a comfy bike and it will give you something to do at weekends - spraying the frame and rebuilding the calipers

I had forgotten that my mate actually had a full fairing on his.......still remember the reg number that was L920 GFC so that would of made it a 1993/4....not keen on the fairing on these but as a work bike it could serve a purpose.

When I got it out I ran a drill bit that was just slightly larger than the hole through it and cleaned up the bolt and lathered it with loads of copper grease. I also took all the other engine bolts out and copper slipped them as well. I take the front bolt out every service and make sure its well greased up with copper slip. Most of the gs's I've seen have knackered front mountings, but as long as you have a bolt through and I looks as though its tight it'll go through an mot ok. I was lucky with the header bolts, the bike shop I bought it from had removed them to paint the exhaust, so I took them out before I started using it and copper slipped them as well.they are also taken out every service and re greased . The three point linkage on the rear suspension and the swinging arm want dropping off and regreasing regularly as well, they are in the line of fire for all the salt and crap and will seize up and bugger the needle roller bearings if they are neglected. Even with all this, I still love my GS,its a grand workhorse, stick some heated grips and some hand guards on and your good for all year riding. Dave....

Okay will check it out - cool, cheers guys.
This bike is also wearing a fairing from new (Spanish sourced aftermarket job but with matching decals) so hopefully that would have shielded it from the usual crap.....that said at 1300 odd miles nothing should be a worry - but that said, we are venturing out of SD county so one never really knows.......

If it seized its not a problem unless you want to take the engine out nick, if its only done that mileage, you'll have plenty of time to free it off before you'll need it out.

I think the biggest thing in the back of my mind right now is that this machine is black......but has white wheels.
So a question. Would I be viewed with suspicion if I rode a motorcycle to work with white wheels (and a single disc up front)?.
I know it's a bit daft but what do you think? Am I being stupid?

Well Nick ,it wouldn't bother me what colour it was and I wouldn't much worry about what others think as long as I like it, but you'll have to be careful on zebra crossing's, no one will see you.
