I have asked this question before on this and other forums what is a classic.google says judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind.out of the bikes I have I believe there is one that fits.thats my Honda cb77, just because it's it's now a certain number of years old it gives them the classic status or models that did not sell well mainly that they were shit to start with and all the manufacturers have made them.i may be wrong it's just my opinion but classic is a meaningless name put in front of a item a certain years old To be straight and from my own personal experience - the GS500E is nothing but a festering turd (mainly in appearance) compared to the so called 'wet dream'. When I compare the two, I see nothing but Rolls Royce in what we come together and celebrate here.......not a wet dream but a quality Honda from the most golden times known as the Super Dream. That said the GS500E is renowned the world over.....and no one can argue with a successful production lifespan of at least 22 years. Make of it what you will. It is what it is.........it ain't what it ain't.

Yes at the back end of the seat the clip fits into those gaping black holes on your seat where it is missing, the missing clip would then hinge from there and then clips in at the front on the support where on your seat there is nothing.
I'm sure nobody would notice Dave.....

you need festering turds or what would the likes of me have to use and abuse if every bike, when it reached a certain age was treated as a classic regardless of pedigree?
My work bikes have to be dogs and not nice shiny things,if they were I wouldn`t use them in the bad weather so please leave some old bikes for us geezers to ride into the ground.
I know the sd`s were good old workhorses in the day, but were built to a lot better standard than the likes of the gs and if had to choose which to restore, the sd wins over the gs any day in my book.
the gs has been a cracking workhorse, ridden in all weathers and its never let me down over the last 25 odd thousand miles, 60+mpg regardless of how its ridden, but I don`t think of it as a classic and never will, its a loyal servant but, when its time comes it won`t be restored and turned into a "classic".

Great post.....and I reckon that most of the workmanship found on the humble 'wet dream' back in the day is half of what can be found on even a Harley in this day and age. Double skinned exhaust downpipes for one......eat your heart out SD slayers. Those who ever called you the wet dream are just envious tossers....were then and possibly are still now.
