Does anybody know if there is a gasket on the side cover on the 250 carbs? this is the cover that on the 400 houses the diaphram (whicj is not used on the 250) cannot see one on cmsnl so not sure?

Yes there is, the gasket sits in the carb body and not in the cover

If you struggle to get them, then could you put some instant gasket into the groove where they sit and screw the cover on ?

Thay are the ones, i am rebuilding my spare 250 carbs to replace my current ones and this part is missing, i may end up getting a full carbs rebuild kit for them yet

FB what are the different numbers for 250/400 carbs please? i am not sure if i am stripping the right ones? I have tried search but drew a blank

'A' is for arsehole........for people like me.
'B' for.....well you can guess (swear word).
'C'.....for something else (very offensive swear word).
'D'........diamond geezer.

Not yet......but give it ten mins.
VB30 are 250
VB31 are 400.
The A,B,C,D (in the box) denotes the age/version.
The rest is a random serial number.
