Hmmmmm.
After reviewing this again, are the steering locks really that easy to bust?
Was this 'staged' for one reason or another......
Can we believe everything we see?

Yes they are Nick which is why I use a chain as well but the bottom line is if they want it they'll take it you just have to make it as hard as possible for them

Yes I know what you are saying Tel.
But most thefts of modern bikes involve a lift by a few hefty blokes rather than busting a steering lock......and a handy pair of bolt cutters to sort the chain out if they happen to be chained to anything.

In the Dublin the scumbags use skate boards and strong tie-clips to move bikes on. There was an interesting case a few years back where a guy left an old well painted up Suzuki RG125 in the same spot where his bike good bike had previously been robbed. He fitted some type of compressed cylinder with waste engine oil in it in the air filter area along with a tube going up to where the ignition barrel would normally be. The thieves came back and tried to leaver off the dummy ignition with a screwdriver. One of the thieves got a burst of black oil in his face and had to be taken to the ear and eye injury hospital. The guy who left the trap there was traced because he still owned the RG125, he had to pay a fine to the state and do community service but he did not have to compensate the thief. I remember the photos on the newspaper of the thief covered in black oil with his hands over his eyes, the paramedics around him and the RG125 in the background, he looked a miserable sorry sight. The heading was Houdini's Black Magic.
