I know I always go on about bikes and the ones I've missed out on back in the past blah blah blah.....
But I've just remembered that I looked at a really really tidy one of these in Bromsgrove back around 2006/7. I was eager to know how the more modern day CB750 was like compared to the 1978-1984 CB750/900DOHC that I came so close to getting. I saw one on ebay - it was 1998 on the R reg, metallic black, only around 9k miles from new and had just one previous owner, the guy selling being the second. I can honestly say it was NICE. But at those miles, you would expect it to be. It was up around the £1100 at the time which I though was cheap. It was a minter - twin silencers, polished lacquered casings etc.

Just wondering, if a Bandit 600 and a CB400Superfour were side by side then would there be much difference in the heights, Tank height, handle bar height and seat height, I am familiar with both bikes but have never saw the two bikes parked side by side.

I owned a 96 cb750f2n retro for 5 years and loved it , when I sold it I wanted it back 11 years on I still miss it , it,s a sort of mr sensible bike , comfy , smooth and plenty of torque but quite heavy not very nimble but very reliable , I have got at present a Kawasaki er5 , one of the last on a 08 plate ,comfy , a,bit lumpy being a 500 twin , very nippy , agile, nimble and would hold 90 mph all day no worries , cheap to run and insure and very reliable and a proper hoot to ride and I,m never selling it whilst I,m fit enough to ride , I would say the Honda 750 better on longer 2 up rides but the,er5 better on commutes and shorter afternoon blasts !!!! I had a 750 zephyr for 6 months would,nt have another .

I,ve also owned a cb750fa and comparing it to the 90,s f2n retro I much prefered the f2n retro , the 80,s fa felt unstable in comparison to the sure footed f2n , it could be the f2n just fitted me better, different bikes for different folks but it,s sure fun finding out which suits us , Enjoy !!!!

The zephyr I had was a dog , the carbs were crackered and I was,nt very comfortable on it so swapped it for a fazer ,the er5 is fine , nice and comfy , quick gear changes keeps it smooth , the lower the revs the higher the gears the less smooth it rides but very impressed for a 500 , build quality of the er5 not as good as Honda but regular cleaning soon keeps on top of this , and very economical too !!

Generally the Zephyr has a good name.
I nearly bought a 550 a few years ago - an absolute minter.......8k on the clock.
Nice looker. Kind or metallic reddy purple it was.

I saw a 1993 zepher 1100 maroon/wine colour a few days ago, it looked a bit like a Honda CB1000 Superfour Big 1 but with a longer tail cowl, looked in good condition and sounded well. The picture I am getting form the posts here are that Honda is the best buy overall for quality and reliability.

Had a '96 CB750 F2n for two years after passing my test in 2000. Nice bike, bit bland to ride and a bit top heavy. Brakes were OK solo, not so good two up! Exhaust down pipes rotted on mine and I replaced with a 4 into 1 but it always looked a bit odd to my eyes (but then the Motad 2 into 1 looks odd on the SD to me). After two years I got bored with it and traded up.
