the mot station only interested in the frame no you can put a cbx1000 engine in it its not there concern so long as its up to mot standards if you do not declare the engine change you are not insured bikes registered on the road after 1983 will still be on the dvla data base and you will get frame reg. before that date you can still get the original reg but it will be under none transferable if that number is not available you will get a age related no.the dvla may require proof there is a vehicle

Tried the tenner in the back pocket loads of times but it got me nowhere slowly.

It's a Yamaha....haha Don't bother. Just curious how does Yamaha compare with Honda in terms of quality, also where does Suzuki and Kawasaki come in. If you were to give them all a score out of 100 for quality what figures would you give them. Also has the pecking order of these 4 changed over the years from 1980 up until today?

The bike is 1975 and rough, but i like a challenge lol! i have a complete engine but no seat and no lights as yet i was going to use universal lights on it as the original lights are quite expensive. I think the build quality is not as good as Honda but it is an old bike and two strokes were usually thrashed within a inch of their lives. The tank is good as is the side panel/oil tank heavy steel used in it. If i had to rate out of 100 i would say 95

Im sorry but surely in 2014 any Mot tester has a duty to inspect the vehicle he's testing thoroughly ensuring engine and frame no match to the v5 details or if they don't can highlight the difference to the dvla Mike

The v5 belongs to the frame .frames are sold on ebay all the time on ebay with the v5 to get to the engine number on my fzr you need to remove the side covers the engine no is not a part of the test so why would he check it the mot is a visual inspection for roadworthiness not to prove the bike's, id
