Sorry - wrong pic.....I meant these: It's a Sunbeam Rapier isn't it? Never had this model, but I did once have an earlier version:- Had a gold Manta once too - wasn't my first choice, I wanted another Capri, but they stopped making them, so the Manta was the only rear wheel drive coupe left on the company car list....

A mate of mine had one in the seventies, the sporty H120 version. Can't remember if that was the bhp or the top speed!

My uncle Stuart had one......metallic purple. This would have been around 1980 so it was maybe ten years old at the time and a bit beaten up.
For some reason the cracked wing mirrors stick in my mind.
The reg number has long escaped me although it was a Berkshire plate (RD).

Metallic purple? Definitely a 70's colour! I had a TR6 which had been resprayed metallic purple. I took it to the local paint suppliers to get some paint to respray it. Plastic swatches held against the paintwork to get a match in those days. He came up with Rootes Purple Metallic - could be the same colour as your uncles!

Possibly Ian....yes.
Although I do remember it lighter than that......maybe the paint had faded. I know it was a shabby example at best.

If I was interested in this, I would seriously want to see under the carpets and the carpet in the boot. That one is borderline being held together by the paint. Nearly bought a blue one in 84, but they were rotting badly even then. Looking at those photos, I can smell the musty vinyl from here......
