Agreed - it looks fine for what it is, Rich.
Is it the photo playing tricks or is the ridge on yours more pronounced than the original?

After looking at your stunning NOS one Nick and comparing it does have a ridge right along centre from front to the rear , it's a shame as apart from that it looks a very close copy , I wonder if it was made like that to make it a little stiffer as my original one is not as stiff if you twist it if you get what I mean

The original has a ridge as Gee was asking about - but it's very slight.
It would be interesting to see it fitted.

It looks a lot better than anything we've seen before but it really does bug me that silvers have invested a lot of money into these and still not got it right. That ridge wouldn't have been too much of an issue to get right.
It seems that they don't quite understand how their customers minds work.

I have just noticed the very slight ridge on my original mudguard and the silvers ridge is more pronounced also I have just noticed another difference as well , the hole for speedo grommet is a few inches lower apart from that it is very nice chrome and as soon as I fitted it hopefully tomorrow I will post some pics

This is essentially a CX500 copy guard and that also ties in with what you have observed on the speedo grommet as well, Rich - on the genuine CX guard it is also in that same lower area.
It should look very nice when fitted.

Please dont think I am being critical of your purchase...but i am confused about DS's muddy.
Now then, it does indeed, by far outweigh what they did sell...but am i seeing the same flaws?
The positioning of the holes for connection onto the fork seem to be too high, hence making it sit high up.
The curvature of the mudguard seems out by a few mm hence making it sit high at the front as well.
Now then fellow SD'ers for what they are charging for it, I would have expected slightly better.
It does look good, but i think that it wont affect NOS too much.
My opinion only guys and gals.
Gee.

Yes it's a shame it's not more of a exact copy , it is fine for me as all I wanted was a better mudguard than the one I had fitted and it's nice and looks close enough at least people on this site will be able to have a gander & decide if it's good enough for what they are out to achieve ,

V nice indeed, I definitely would buy one. I wonder if a different make of tyre would give a tighter fit?

Yes, to echo Graham's post........what tyre size are you running there, Rich? Can you post it up? Looks like a Pirelli but what size?
The front tyre was always a low profile affair on the SD and there should indeed be a noticeable gap between tyre and guard (also see the banner bike for example).

That is a mahoosive improvement on the pattern jobbie. Officianados aside, it will please any SD owner who wants a new guard. I would use one especially when you consider the alternatives. I hear what others are saying and it maybe an opportunity missed but I nevertheless applaud Mr Silver for getting it into production. I'd put it on to NNR as a rider guard and swap back to NOS original for show purposes. Love it and thanks for taking the time and effort to share the details Richard. Much appreciated.
