Possibly, a new bike has grabbed my attention at a really good price and a dealership are offering me between £2000 and £2500 for mine!! I cant see me getting that through private sale!
Whether there just trying to tempt me into buying and then go back on their word once theyve seen mine im not sure but just thought id ask

Yamaha XJ6 Diversion S i might just be getting desperate because my bike is frustrating me so much and ive just passed my test and just wanna get out there!! so maybe when my bike is running and mot then il stick with it and really enjoy it but on the other hand, i very much doubt i would get £2000 private sell so should i make the most of the opportunity and get a new (bigger) bike, which normally i wouldnt be able to afford!?!?! what do you think?

2k is a lot to offer by a dealer.
It does beg the question, what are they up to?

By the way - a bike of this ilk (the Yam XJ6) is a totally different ball game to a Super Dream......totally different animal. So it depends what you want from your motorcycle. In an ideal world you could keep the SD for bimbling around on and this new bike for the faster more adventurous stuff....I have a Suzuki 600 Bandit for that. But it's not an ideal world for most - so it really is your call mate.

If you're after a sports bike, forget the diversion. You'll quickly realise it's not all its made out to be.... Find an R6

Thats the thing, im not after a sports bike i just like the thought of having that extra power when needed and being more comfortable on long journeys and motorway riding etc
I done all my lessons and test on a bandit and it was great fun!
And your right, ideally i would have both but i dont have the space or money!

I have te feeling the dealer doesnt really know much about the bike to be honest and are maybe offering a high price so i put a deposit down... Then when they see it offer me lower and hoping a still buy the yam.
I cant really believe they wouldnt know much about them but i told him it was a superdream and shown him some pictures and he said 'superdreams are cbx's arent they?'
He looked online to get a price so not really sure what his plan is

Sounds like he has not got a clue to be honest, Sam. CBX ? Bottom line - if he stands by that valuation and you are happy with the Yam you must go for it. Your bike is nice but I think even a mega top drawer and original mint SD would struggle to reach that money as a trade in from a dealer. Keep us updated.

but I think even a mega top drawer and original mint SD would struggle to reach that money 5 years ago people were giving superdreams away, now a good one is best part of £2k...... Give it another 5 years and you could be looking at £5k+ Just look what happened to the price of a cbx. That diversion will be £800 in 5 years.

Like i said nothing is final il see how i enjoy my bike and what they offer if i decide to go back. Im not thinking for an investment i want something to enjoy now, and id rather have a bike than a pile of cash
