are you sure its the ignition coil that has failed suddenly and not the generator? My bike was running fine one minute and wouldn't start the next, no spark. The generator had suddenly failed. I'd be putting my money on thats what has happened to yours! Hope you get it fixed soon

Your switch is off in this pic, did you check it was turned back to run?

I hope its just the switch! Caught me out that did not long after getting my SD. First bike I'd had with a kill switch. I'd went to go out on it and couldn't get it to start, so out with the plugs to find no spark. Off with the tank, swapped the coils over with spare ones and still no spark, then tried another CDI and again no spark. It was then I noticed the bloody kill switch in the off position. Felt a right twat!!

Thanks for the nice comments boys! Im pretty sure its the coil, i tested the resistance across the yellow and green cables which come out of the coil and they should read between 3 and 5 ohms but im getting between 0.8 and 1.... I hope my theory is right anyway!! Ive heard about the generators being faulty too so thats my next thing to swap if this coil doesnt work! Its so frustrating because after i changed my carb rubber manifolds, balanced the carbs and adjusted the pilot screws it was running perfect! Even had a cheeky toot up the road and everything was great and ive not moved it since then!
I will let u know what it is when its done!

Thanks mate! Il be proud when im riding it lol to be honest sometimes i just put it in the garden to look at! They are such nice bikes, and ive been playing with it on and off for 18months now so i cant wait to enjoy it properly!
Well the cases were painted black so i had to use everything i could find to remove it! Plenty of thinners and overcleaner and wire brushes done the trick. Then i used wet and dry gradually getting finer to bring the shine out then finished off with a polishing wheel which was amazing! A bit too blingy at first but theyve settled down nicely now
