John - thanks for the link. Unfortunately I did buy 'that' sprocket.......but when it arrived it was not the one in the picture but a 520 pitch. I tried to get the correct one and communication failed so I had to open an ebay case. For some reason, ebay just refunded me straight away so I felt sorry for the seller. I was looking to replace what they sent me for what I wanted.....
Anyway, in the end, I sold it on ebay and the Crouch-Meister won it.
Nix - yes it looks like a dealer take off or has been poorly stored. There were a few different finishes, never chrome but bright zinc, black paint or dark zinc (some refer to as drab olive).

Oddly the ones that I have been watching for a month (and the seller had three) have now all been snapped up all today by the looks of it - the same buyer as well...
Call me paranoid but was this as a result of this thread?

Are you starting up a secret parts business? Afternoon everyone I think the sprocket buyer is me! Blummin' software system failed me yesterday whilst out collecting the bike- gutted I have missed out on a NOS XS500 exhaust system because Ebay rejected my login.... Looks iffy, but I have just read this thread cos I have been ploughing through emails today to catch up. The seller "ceckotto" is a guy I have bought stuff off before. I had emailed him a few days ago for a price for all 3 and he responded yesterday and said price was non-negotiable but P&P would still be the 20 Euro for everything. The plan was for one to go onto the "Time Capsule" and one for spare. Other one is up for grabs for the basic £38 asking price- Nick first refusal. I did look again this morning to see what I have now sprocket wise for your bike Nick, but confirm I only have CB400N 530 size NOS and Hi-Level, and of course the NOS 520 CB250Nx you sold me....

Fair play, Paul.........blimey - you are hard core.
Yes for sure. I just had a bit of a panic attack after seeing those 3 disappear and got searching all my parts contacts. I managed to locate 5 more in Germany at around the same dollar (49 euro).....
But if you get these and can offer me one for the price you stated then yes, I will gladly accept.....thanks.
Trust you got back okay yesterday?

p.s - That is a shame about the XS exhaust. I hate it when that sort of thing happens......I've experienced it.

CMSNL have still got the sprockets in stock of course, but want 82 Euros for them! I often multi-buy from Europe and USA as it's the P&P that makes each individual part expensive. Got a friend in the US who acts as receiver for those sellers who won't ship to UK, working on a German version..
Got back fine will post up fresh pics later and carry the tale on.
XS500 silencers are just so much rarer than SD silencers- hard to imagine. For some reason Ebay was rejecting my logins yesterday- desperately trying to bid manually from Leicester Services but they got away. Then the frustrating situation of changing the password and Ebay saying I couldn't use my old password again. So why didn't you friggin accept it then knuckleheads....
C'est La Vie...

Glad this has got resolved in a happy fashion!!!!!
BTW - Nick - dont throw that original sprocket away. I am sure there must be a method of removing the pressed tin 'plate' from the original and fitting it to a 'pattern' replacement new socket.
Would be worth having a bash at that to see if it could be done - might be a way to retain the original look into the future?
PS - PAUL - If ever you come across a single NOS silencer for a 1978 XS400, I would be most interested. No hurry - only if one crosses your path. Preferably a RHS as mine has an 'oddball' one fitted.

There was never any friction here, please let me make that 100%...... I just found it odd that all those sprockets sold today and assumed it was a non member.....I am glad Paul got them. I knew I would find one elsewhere (if need be) anyway..

No mate please just swap the panels over - I'll pop over whenever its convenient perhaps one night in the week or next week.
I think you should keep that Invader for posterity if nothing else.....we can swap the panel over at yours?
