Hi everyone. believe i was a member in the past, well everything looks the same , but seems to be some unrest etc.
I had a Superdream that i purchased as my first proper bike off ebay after a late conversion.and worked on it and got going with great help from you guys.
Still got it and was my main bike until Jan of this year when if dropped a valve on the way back from MOT with brand new MOT in pocket.
I was also working on a cb750f dohc and for my sins had also purchased a 1951 Mobylette that needed restoring.
These other projects and working with a 2 hour drive each way to work meant I have been quiet lately.
Tried to log on earlier and had found things had changed or not.
Any way hope the brilliant advice from you lads is still there.
Knowing you are all voyeurs at heart will post some pics of various bits of kit.
Have the old threads of various restorations that I had now disappeared or am I just not looking in right place.

You may be mixing us up with 5hanes forum. He seems to have deleted the forum for some reason.

The Superdreams big brother is now finished. However my 250 has some damage The little ends dont line up. It dropped a valve and bounced it around a bit. Before putting it through the piston and into the sump. Now have a replacement bottom half, and a spare top half that came with the bike. Just need to marry together.

so, why did it break a valve???
over revved on the way home doing 100mph?? or had it been standing for ages and this was its first handful of throttle/revs??

As for why it dropped a valve have no idea. I was bimbling back from MOT station with new mot in my pocket. 35 mile slow cruise back.around my favorite lanes. 1/2 mile from my house and bang. No major revs. Really depressing. Stripped to find out the problem and then sourcing bits to put right.
The piston and crank in the frezer is off my mobylette. The piston is a deflector piston with a dome ridge on one side to aid in gas flow through the transfer ports. The crank or more importantly the bearings are contracting in the cold ready to be mated to the two crank halfs that were expanding nicely in the oven.
Just like master chef.
