got the last issue sorted on the dream the main problems have been electrical it shows they do not like standing around doing nothing .well the horn had decided to retire looked on line and all i seen just did not look wright .so took the old one to bits and it was a mess as in the pic .the electric side was ok but still did not work .then looking at it it is just like a lucas altette horn some washers between the cone and resonator and now alive and you can adjust the pitch by adding or take away washers.and now with some stainless bling and a new paint job now fitted

Head, Cylinder and Cam Cover back from having paint Oven Baked, but, had a change of heart re Crankcases and Covers.
All parts have been aqua blasted, but, decided to Paint Crankcases with Hammerite Silver instead of Engine Enamel (as it doesn't get that hot) and have both Covers polished and then I masked and re-sprayed (yet again more work) the recessed parts Black. Laid parts out in the Sun and will do for several days to help paint harden.
Engine Parts arrived today so will be making start on Engine Rebuild shortly (if I can remember how it goes back together LOL).

Had a problem with the 250NB a couple of weeks ago, started up ok when I got it out the shed, but after parking for the shops just got a 'click' on pressing the starter. It was on a bit of a slope, so I rolled down a bit & bump started ok. Got home & starter worked fine, so not much scope for troubleshooting the fault. I cleaned the terminal posts on the starter solenoid & the starter motor & it's been ok 'till today when the same thing happened. Again, once I'd bumped it, I couldn't recreate the problem, so I had another look at the solenoid - never realised they could be pulled apart! The contacts were mucky, so could be the problem Cleaned them up & tested ok So, if it happens again, it'll be off with the starter motor

one down two to go ,looked all over as the bike came in boxes they did not come with the bike.not superdream bur a relation a cb77 superhawk that i am building . the stator is held in place with 3 studs and the cover plate screws screw in to the studs.DS can get them but are £17.99 each plus vat and postage F**K THAT.down to the steel suppliers 10m 500mm bright hex bar £5 and 3 hours of my time first always takes the longest now i have a pattern the other two will not take long.when i started at the pit in 1976 as a apprentice fitter as we were not allowed down the pit unsupervised spent most of my time in the fitting shop or blacksmiths they would show you how the pillar drill lathes and all the other equipment worked and you were good to go.then they would show you a pile of whatever and thats was me busy.no way would you be taught like that today i can see why but what i learnt as stayed with me and i have enjoyed this afternoon i lost track of time and missed the meetup at 6pm to go to squires cafe .

This just landed ,as i am building more sleepers or specials i like putting big engines in to little bikes it makes them fun.some frames i need to alter one is a kawasaki er250 that i am fitting a z440 twin engine the front down tubes need to be redesigned and without one of these the job is on hold .the item is a tube bender,it pays to look around and sometimes to go direct.went on a site called geek got this tube bender for £31 plus £9 postage they are way more than that on ebay and other sites and are the exactly the same.as i will only doing lightweight fabrication the one i got is more than adequate.it will fit in my big vice but going to make a frame that will hold this and my tyre changer .will let you know how it performs when i get some tube

This time last year the shed was full & we had no more room for any bikes. Since then, 3 more have arrived . After the arrival of the Conti GT yesterday, we had to do a bit of manipulation in the shed. The Conti replaced the 400NA in the garage, a useful swap as the RE has no centre stand so has to lean in on the side stand, giving a bit more room to squeeze between bikes. The NA seems happy to sit around unused for months then start without fuss, so it was stripped of bodywork & stuffed right at the back of the shed leaving just enough room for the other bikes to fit in front. On the other side, the little Grom is easy to get in & out, so sits at the front & leaves room for the other 3 behind it The YBR & CB125 sit in the garden shed & for now the lawn mower sits outside - definitely at capacity now!

I am not selling any but cant help buying, Madbuyer.com it's me, its an affliction. Rona says stop, but I sneak out at night, find a terminal to plug my laptop into and buy! 5 sunflower seeds arriving next week, the best sunflower seeds, not just any sunflower seed...that's what they told me anyway. Just kiddin. I hope you get a good return if you have to sell. Gee.

We're lucky Terry, can't get a sofa through the front door & the 90 degree turn through the kitchen door into the house without dismantling it - no chance with a bike . My plan was to sell the 250NB Gee, but after a discussion with the boss today, seeing as we've got all the bikes in, it can stay as my wet weather/winter bike - handy as it's already got heated grips. The YBR & CB125 hardly get used now, so they might go & then I can get the lawn mower back in the garden shed, but buying more bikes is definitely out (for now )

This was the 650GT out for a ride yesterday..... ....and this is how it looks today in the shed The job was a quick one to raise the bars a little by clamping the clip-ons above the top yoke instead of below - remove the top yoke, slide off the bar clamps, then slacken off the bottom yoke clamps, (there's 2 hex socket bolts on each side) to raise the forks slightly & leave a bit more at the top to clamp the bars onto. Tighten everything up, job done. Except I didn't get that far! I was slackening the bolts clamping the bottom yoke & one sheared on I couldn't understand how this could happen, then I noticed the lower bolt hole goes right through the casting, protruding slightly out the other side, the upper hole is blind. The bolts are the same length, so I think this one could have been tightened up too hard rammed against the casting. Now I'm trying to pluck up the courage to try & remove the same bolts on the Interceptor to check they're ok, and shorten the ones in the blind holes a bit.

Not been a good week for the Enfields. I got the Interceptor out for ride today & when I clipped the top box on, the rack felt loose. A closer look revealed the tubes broken on both sides Can't blame Royal Enfield on this one, a box of wine, 2 x 1.5L bottles of squash, a bag of veg including baking potatoes & more, then bouncing home on the rubbish roads over here is probably pushing it a bit.
