Just wondering has anybody ever refurbed their original SD tool kit ! My one has got a bit rough looking and i would like to bring it back to its past glory ! I don't know what the original factory coating was , painting or powder coating is out of the question for obvious reasons , maybe some sort of plating !! Owen...

Hi Owen yes i plated my mates Paul 400/4 set if you look up my thread on plating honda-superdream.co.uk/thread/10125/platinghis tools had never been used or out of the bag so they were brand new in a sense but where they had been rubbing together for 40 years they were rubbed throug the plating photo below is a spanner from his set the right one and the one on the left is an old one to practice on what I did was blasted them in a cabinet and replated them if you look at Daves spanner it does not look rubbed through just dirty with age and may be a very gentle polish will do ,have a go ! this is Pauls set finished! Is that all your tools you have there I only say cus your a bit short this is my set [/url

Hi bodie you have done a brilliant job on your mates tool kit I will read your thread on plating with interest yes I think there are a couple of screwdriver heads missing from my toolkit, to be honest I haven't carried it on the SD for a long time and it's be lying in the bottom drawer of the toolchest ! Will have a rout about to find then, have been carrying a modern Oxford product's toolkit around for a long time just wanted to go back to basics when I get the SD tidied up for the summer ! ( hopefully) Dave I might try what you have done and try to clean them first on a polishing wheel worth a go !!
Cheers Owen...

In a nutshell OCH, this stretches back around six years. Bojer owned a Silver 250 deluxe at the time, reg KRP634Y. It was found to have its original full tool kit under the seat and the question of an allen key which was found to be in said tool kit was discussed.
I advised Bojer to bin it, or words to that effect because none of my tool kits (including a NOS one I once had the luck to find) did not contain the allen key. To my knowledge, to this day it graces a field somewhere in the Cranfield region of Bedfordshire and is rusting happily.
It is still a 50/50 chance of having one, the parts diagrams certainly show it but as we all know, parts diagrams and what we actually find on the bikes can sometimes be at odds (do not mention that darn spring washer).

Them fields , have been built on now Fungo , no chance of finding it . But in reality if you saw the state of my garage you'd know I never throw anything away .
