Think she's on 15,000 Nick the pipes are impossible to get there is a left side in Japan secondhand my mate has just started his vt250 rebiuld after finding pipes in Japan as well another model impossible to find them for he's only been looking for 10 years!!!! Am i allowed to ask which sites you scour in japan? Thinking of my bike thats all....allthough i respect if you decline if it is a trade secret... or if passing the info on would only let fungo go find and buy all the best the bits lol It really is quite simple. There are no 'trade secrets'. We all have a brain, computer and the passion (well most of us tick all three boxes - personally with myself I may be missing one of them). You get the part numbers and you search, search search and search until you find the part. No magic involved. Each and every one of us is capable if we stopped being so lazy. And I mean that in a nice way. We can all be NOS Honda part armchair detectives if we really really want to be. What's more, I don't keep anything secret - in fact I think I've put the chief accuser onto quite a few good things this year - a complete utter bargain of a bike being one of them.

P.S - Japan is very rarely the place you will find the parts.
I think I got a VFR400 silencer form Japan and that was about it. Interesting, isn't it?
Europe and America seem to be where the parts are / were.

Just having a bit of light hearted tease...I have no doubt he is a decent bloke, totataly dedicated to these, and his own, bikes. In fact an expert wouldnt be fare off the mark...but dont let him know these things, if for no other reason he will have no chance of getting his head into that new helmet luckily got 4 xmas I recon one of the ultimate accolades would be getting an invitation to a tour of FBs NOS warehouse - saying that would probably be required to be blindfolded getting there so the location remains a secret All you'd find there at the moment is a big rat....which is programmed to bite you.

Nothing against pets just would not get looked after properly in my house - went to work Wednesday morning and by 2:30 I was doing an unplanned trip to Italy for 2 days
Pets just would not work

We all love a bit of banter, joking apart i have been on the sd forum with Fungo before this one and i know he is superdream through and through, his only fault is he is a stickler for originality and he is after a nos built bike if thats possible, you can pretty much bet on it that he is on this forum for the long haul.

Dont worry fungobat i consider myself firmly corrected and put in my place. However, i feel obliged to let you know that i find your post a bit curt and patronising to say the least, despite you trying to offset it with emoticons. I simply thought this forum was, amongst other things, a good way of helping other out with a common interest. Some of us are better than others at searching or using computers, or have way more time, period.Google is garbage to what it used to be when it was first conceived. Often putting irrelevant sites in the search list. Why must everyone individually go and reinvent the wheel? Thats not my understanding of friendship, help, kindness or humility. I referred to guys who have been referencing japan a few times. My bike is rare over here to say the least and it is not even in direct competion for parts with SD's in most cases. Im not ashamed to admit, when i type stuff it returns in japanese not english or with odd sites. If someone had a good parts lead why not share it than be insidious? I could adopt and use your idea of advice over here, and when new guys start at my firm just simply state you dont know your lazy and tell them to work hard, hard, hard and then wander off smug in knowledge that i already know everything about the job including short cuts that take a long time to figure out etc etc. That is not the canadian way here and i dont. Perhaps im knieve sometimes, and expect others to adopt similar high good natured standards. Perhaps, for the period of time i have been here, i have forgot the flaws with the english peoples selfish values and attitude. I could preach many examples that have totally dumbfounded me on how canadians have either gone so far out thier way to help, it has cost them a lot of time, money, or caused actual pain and sometime all three for nothing. This is to total strangers too. A further note, i guess i also need to clarify further, i mentioned "trade secret" light heartedly, tried to be tactful and clearly failed. I apologise. I thought it was feesible that there could be cases where some people actually rely on doing a bit of buying and selling in order to suppliment thier income and keep afloat. I knew people/ families back in the uk who lived in what appeared to be very wealthy circumstances but were credited up to the eyeballs, were probably a months wage from loosing everything and didnt have a hope of altering thier situation due to markets, job circumstances etc. Anyhow, i dont want to labour an issuee, as i am not one to hold beef with anyone and will forget the matter. However, i now know not to foolishly ask for similar advice ever again. Im off for whiskey toddy i think...enjoy your part finds.

Wow......just seen your rant RSG75.
There really was no offence meant to anyone. If that is the way you choose to take it then there is nothing I can do. I'd be a bit careful with how you interpret the written word on a forum or email......my words are meant to be nothing but honest and true to someone who is genuinely into these bikes - there is no need to attack me for being 'English'.
My door is always open to help people - and I often help people search for parts behind the scenes but (you excluded in this case) do have to put up with some quite cutting comments from members thinking I live in a massive mansion, have servants and have a warehouse of NOS parts. I can only put these comments and 'perceived image' of me down to jealousy. I do take it as banter - so if anyone should be getting a little peeved it is me - but I choose not to. We also have an element of people who 'stir the sh*t'......you get it on every forum but again, I see it as banter. One thing I won't do is stomp off like a sulky child - we have had it many times on here, grown men frankly behaving like 5 year olds. This is fun, please lighten up.
One thing no one will do is break my spirit. Some have tried this year but I am Superdream through and through.....that will never change.

With regard to retort. I think you perhaps missed the point, the issue i had was not about banter but direct rudeness to a request for help or advice. I believe there is still a clear difference between the two My achillies heal is computers always has been, i was never was brought up with them or consoles and went to a under performing comprehensive school. In fact, they really held me back at college after that. I still have a belief that computers and internet, has overall, been considerably more damaging to society and this outweigh their benefits. Thats something by joining this forum i am partly trying to change my perception. I actually dont have a problem with someone having lots of parts, in fact i encourage and applaud the commitment. Afterall it is an essential part of ensuring maintaintain of a running machine for many years to come. I r1eferenced the canadian element because i saw probably about 70% of english drivers and families failing to make a go of it here, after giving up everything and spending fortunes. The majority saw the merits of raising a family here and desperately wanted to stay. I really felt their pain. However, i recognised a common theme, that of a selfish attitude of every man for himself. I could recall on many occassions when they would gladly receive help but when the tables were turned, they would skant off with lame excuse or come out with a one liner and then scoot off giggling to them selves. This was mainly peculiar to english and not people from other nations, i doubt they realised thier flaw in character. Maybe a failing of the culture that is encourage in the uk these days. I think you do get peeved when it suits by the way, i recall a simply reference to finger nails and to me you clearly indicated it was a sensitive issue. You were well within your rights to do so, and as a matter decency you will fin i respected that and never mentioned it again. Then the rudeness returns accusing me of being a sulky child. Thank you again for proving my point. I too am honest and i do make a stand if i believe someone crosses a line, regardless of the consequences or if i have to do it on my own. However, I am always open to suggestion or reason, and perhaps also realise that a sentence and be taken in many different ways, without the benefit of speech and non verbal communication. I will try to keep that in mind I would stress the point that I have no desire to break anyones spirit, perhaps now needs to lighten up ? To do such a thing would be the work of an enemy. I am not an enemy. I totally admire your commitment to these bikes and ironically can see far more commonalities between use than differences. I am sad this escapade has happened. .

I for one don't hold a grudge RSG75. I will think twice about my written words to you in future before posting. I am unsure of your age and it doesn't matter but maybe there is a gap between our ages / humour....... thus understanding - exacerbated by the fact you live in a different country / culture possibly. I think I am one of the younger crowd in the greater scheme of things on the forum and my written word has indeed been misunderstood before. I'd like to draw a line under it now as I'd like to get back to helping someone with a request.
I wish you all the best and hope you continue to be part of the forum.....I have certainly enjoyed your posts and presence in the short time you have been here so far.
Thanks
Nick
