Thanks. Pics have been on here before, I did them a couple of years ago for a custom project (embarassingly still unfinished, abandoned in fact.) so they've already had the Fungo seal-of-disapproval.

Trouble with OVER restoring is that you could become scared of using the bike in case you dirty it lol I've never restored a bike, prefer buying a tidy one and riding it (I'm a lazy bugger)

Did you split the rims from the spokes? Honestly those wheels are mint imo. I think over restoring or custom work is a personalisation. I think those wheels look better than the originals however it may not appeal to the masses. Whether you like or don't like you have to admire the time and effort to achieve such a transformation. However if you have never tried to do it yourself you probably don't realise and appreciate. (thats not a dig at anyone who just buys the finished product).

Yes the wheels were split down, blasted, polished/painted and rebuilt at home. Had maybe 30/40hrs in for the pair so not a quick job. I put loads of pics up on here at the time but have all vanished when photobucket lost the plot. These were built for a custom job and i was chuffed with the finish, especially when wrapped in big fat vintage looking Avons. I wouldn't consider fitting them to a resto project. I've no problem with anyone buying the finished product at all but I enjoy the process. There's a pride in the end result i suppose. I admire those that spend time sourcing nos parts and have learned the skills to replicate original paint/metal finishes. Similar process I suppose, just a different direction.
