After some negative posts about non-genuine clutch cables on this forum in the past and after I burned the casing on mine last week, I went to some lengths to source a replacement for my replacement this week. Part number on this is 22870-443-610. I have 22870-443-611 buried somewhere deep in my reserve. Wonder if anyone can enlighten me as to what the difference is in these cables (if any).

If it is just the outer damaged and rest is good then have it repaired I had an original BSA front brake and clutch cable refurbished by a company in Wales, they used all the original end fittings, put on new outer sleve and new cable - could not tell it was not the original cables

But that would mean losing all the important little white lettering on the original outer case..
Do you want it?

-610 is actually Honda parts speak for items destined for the German market, UK was actually -600. But I suspect they just used 610 for many European parts. -611 would have been a modification or alternative supplier. It could be either or both though. It should really be the 10th digit that shows modified or updated parts e.g. 000 to 010, etc. But the 10th digit was already being used to show the export market. The fact that the 611 part is no longer listed by Honda makes me think alternative supplier.
Best would be to dig that other cable out and compare....

I fitted a 611,took it off again as there wasn't much adjustment left, just like the pattern ones the inner cable is too long.

Yes, I think the pattern ones are copied from the 611 version- with maybe a shorter outer as well to make things worse.
I can look at my bikes and see straight away which has a 610 and which has a 611. The 611 will fit- right at the end of the adjustment- but only if the release arm is cooperating at the right angle....

I had a genuine honda nos clutch cable for my TL as well, but it was a longer inner than the original one.I had to shorten the inner cable and solder a new nipple on to make it usable. It seem that the later genuine cables and most pattern ones have the inner cable too long or shorter outer case so are not much use, probably all made by the same company these days...
