Brake lining warning indicator? Brake wear warning light is the one of the other lights in the Rev counter- but actually not used in this years model.....yet.

XS250 1978/1979 model. Thought red light was something to do with the 2 wheel drive bike they did but that was a dirt bike so not right,maybe a tyre pressure guage/ warning light.

Nick, you said 350 or 500 and I said warmer? You then said RD350 and I said no. So it's a Yamaha 500cc but not a XS500. What did Japan tend to do with new designs first?

I reckon listey wins... This bike is currently in the US, brought back from Japan by a serviceman, and is one of the first 500 produced in late 1972 for the new 73 model year.
