I have two nose fairings now for my black CB400NA.... May fit the Invader after I have cosmetically tidied the front end this winter.......but still undecided.

It really annoyed me all those years ago when Oxford manage to get the decals for the NB 400s wrong, they put the decals for the red 400NB on the black fairings and the decals for the black 400NB on the red fairings, not one fairing for the 400nb were supplied correct.

Hi All,
I came across this old thread which was about the right topic, hope it is OK to add a post.
I am seeking a screen for one of these Oxford fairings, or would consider a complete fairing if the screen was good. Or does anyone know of someone who could make a replacement from a pattern?
Can anyone also tell me whether the fairing had any other mounting point (e.g. at the base) apart from the bracket that fitted to the headlamp mounts.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Can't help with the screen, sorry. Did you buy the red one that was up for sale in Mansfield by any chance? I know he wanted about 60 notes for it but sadly the screen was not included (it was not on it).
Re: the mounts - they mount on the headlamp bolts and also there is a stay bracket at the bottom which bolts on to the lower fork yoke pinch bolts.
Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Thanks for that. No, I didn't buy the Mansfield one (which is still available, listed as being for a CX500 among other models, but devoid of screen and bracketry). Mine came from eBay and was a lot cheaper than that!
I have a screen but it has had a badge fixed to it and also has a small crack. I can use it but if I can find another that would be good, although I suspect there are not many around.
Mounting bracket information is very helpful. I thought perhaps there should be some sort of lower fixing, I will fabricate something to suit.
Regards,
Chris

Thanks for the offer Nick but I don't think they would help me much as the fairing is actually going on a 400 Four. It will be sprayed yellow to match the bodywork and I have had some stripes made up to match those on the tank so it should look the part. There are some differences in fitting which I have already worked around - the headlamp mounts on the 400F are narrower than on the Superdream so I'll need spacers there, and the fairing needed small cutouts to clear the indicator stalks - but otherwise it all looks fine.
I will make something suitable to locate the fairing at the bottom now I know there was originally a bracket there.
Thanks for your help.
Chris

This nose fairing looks like the one fitted to my honda MB50,I did see them up for sale but at the time we had a rickman fairing fitted to the superdream..

I like the Oxford fairing but I think the invader one is hideous (Sorry Nick, I know you're a fan)

Just to complete the story, here is my fairing having been painted and awaiting fitment .... ... and here it is on the bike. Hope the image sizes are OK! I did find a guy in Germany who has had replacement screens made up - apparently these fairings were a common fitment for the CX500 - but at 110 Euros delivered to the UK I decided to stick with the one I had! It was much improved with a good polish although I decided not to risk trying to remove the HOC badge that is stuck on. Oh, and I'm afraid I didn't like the Invader fairing when it hit the market and I still don't. Sorry.

Sorry for my complete ignorance on this topic but do these actually make much of a difference in terms of weather protection, performance etc? Really not a fan of the massive Rickman full fairings but could this make winter slightly more bearable?
