Would it not be easier with brush on rather than spray and save all that masking? It would in a way but you would get brush strokes......it would not appear factory - but that may not bother you.
Brushing is certainly less noticeable on the barrel / fins but on the centre smooth crankcase, it stands out.....that's my experience anyway.

I gave my simoniz engine enamel a couple of coats of 2k clear to seal everything in, would it be an idea to take your engine parts to a local painter and ask him to put a couple of coat on for you, i dont think he would charge you that much

Might do that stevie. I take it that it resists petrol better than rattle can lacquer?
