This tread gives me chills as i recall my only time i had a puncture it was on my Y reg silver deluxe. I was cruising down the M6 at 65mph in the slow lane, as you know always busy, when sudden total deflation from front tire. What had happened was there had been a collision not to long before and they had kindly left all the large shards of headlamp glass everywhere.
I panicked and tried to steer onto the shoulder but just a simple turn was pulling the tire off the rim and thus the bike and me onto the ground. It seem like for ever, but probably seconds, i had to slow down in lane 1 to walking pace before i could steer off to safety. Thankfully a truck driver behind had the sense to put his hazards on.
It could all easily have become a fatality that day, and it nearly put me off biking for good,i pushed it off to the nearby junction and had to wait hours for a friend in a van, and rightly pay his fuel too. I could not believe the lack of consideration to leave such debris in the road...ever since always been particularly wary to go in 3 rd lane, particulary with the audi drivers in that one etc
