lot of members, but i think there is probably a lot that dont use site anymore Happens on every successful forum. People get an interest then it weakens (life also gets in the way) - they simply lose interest. It's human nature. It's great to keep things fresh and diverse. Genuine enthusiasts will always stick around. Those who don't simply have other motives. What's more to make a forum successful is very hard work. Many have failed over the years. There's a particular forum out there at the minute which I sometimes look in on and it's quite clear to see that it's an admin member posting under at least five different user names. It's sad to watch but these are the lengths some people go to to try and make things work....I don't suppose you can blame them for trying. I don't think anyone should lose sight of the fact that this forum is also free. Considering the accuracy and volume of the information then this is quite unprecedented. I often wonder if a nominal minor fee per year member charge would clear out the dregs who never post useful stuff (or get involved at all). Forums only work if information is shared.

Always have things to say and you get involved......and above all, your love for the bike has always been very evident. Members like you ARE the forum.

We've discussed this before, but how many active forum members are there?

We've discussed this before, but how many active forum members are there? Depends what you mean by active. In the winter we typically get around 400-500 guests a day. My guess is there are currently around 40-50 active regular members over a month period. Others come and go when they need something - and have to go to the immense effort of 'logging in'.

I often wonder if a nominal minor fee per year member charge would clear out the dregs who never post useful stuff (or get involved at all). Forums only work if information is shared. Not sure it would, take me for instance, I'm currently and active member because my current project is a CB250, I use the username jonnyhonda all over the place, even Beamer forums, I like to think I give useful input, I don't stick to one marque but I'm no less enthusiastic as the regulars, I'm sort of passing through with 30 years of bike building experience. If any of you know sohc.co.uk, that was mine, I started it and built it up and after getting ride of the bike a few years ago I let it go to the current chap who runs it, I had the same problem with folk joining asking a question, getting an answer and boom gone, never to be seen again, it's the nature of the internet and the fact that folk want a quick fix these days.

Did I just read that Fungobat suggesting a charge, a charge, a charge, as he well knows I'm as tight as a ducks bottom, so let's not charge

You were going to be exempt anyway....for donating TJA255X to forum ownership......when she's completed, of course.
Let us know when we can collect. Trannie's waiting.

P.s - most of the time now you can't even get free info from CMM and the like because they insist on sealing the mag with a clear polythene cover - so that you get extra pamflets -which are often trying to sell you something you don't want. I've given up now and subscribed. I no longer stand in WH Smith for an hour reading it whilst the wife is shopping. But, I suppose just like Photo Bucket have realised - things have to be paid for unfortunately - things of a certain quality of course.
Soon, air will cost. And don't mean to put in your tyres.....I mean to breathe with.
