No. I did a dust coating and then two or three good coats letting it dry completely before the next. Turned out great with the polished casings.

You have done a nice job, just for future reference consider a coat of etch first, you will get better adhesion, lovely bike by the way.

I got the paint off ebay . its high temp aluminium paint in a 500ml tin and cost around £8. you have to make sure the engine is free of any oil or grease or it will not stick. I used clutch and brake cleaner and it worked really well for me. Mine is getting stripped and cleaned/painted this winter. Daughter wants to learn, so why not. Hope it looks as nice as yours when it is done. It also needs a new front mudguard, mine is rusting and I dont like the universal ones,so Silvers it is............again.

I know what you mean with the mudguard....It's all that spoils mine really so another £140 spending at Silver's. They must love us?

The engine was de greased and painted with aluminium heat resistant paint. The covers I took a lot of time polishing them by hand using different wet and dry papers and a great deal of solvol autosol.....I will change the front mudguard for one from David Silver as soon as I have £150 spare...Then that is is I think just a matter of maintaining and looking after it.... I am in the process of polishing the rocker cover of my 400. It is certainly hard work and I have been using wet and dry, autosol, Blu and polishing wheels on my drill. However, I was wondering which is the best way to get inside and polish the fins on the cover as I am struggling? Any advice gratefully received. Paul
